Currently, there is a 20% bonus for being within a certain distance of a Primary Objective while it is in your team's control. This was put forth in hopes that more people would push for the objective or at least congregate around it in order to shoot one another. It was a smart idea. However, I think it would be a better idea to extend that bonus to both teams rather than just having a Defender Bonus. Here are the primary bonuses:
1. In Domination, you can often see where teams just give up. You can notice it as a stomp of any side. It will be 5 minutes into the game and suddenly none on your team are moving for the point. This happened to me several times today. I hacked the point on Fracture Road 3 times only to have my team shooting at the enemy team from the MCC rather than moving in for the Objective. If the bonus was extended, it would at least push people into closer quarters.
2. It rewards people who push their team into victory. Running in as a Scout, throwing down Uplinks to get a foothold situation, in order to better break the turtle that happens. It really, really sucks not getting the 20% bonus despite doing everything you are supposed to do just because the other team is there.
3. It removes the "stomp more" mechanic that is getting Warbarge Strikes 20% faster by leveling out the playing field. It allows the team that is pushing for the objective in order to get Warbarge Strikes faster to break into the Objective.
4. It reduces the sting of just getting utterly rolled at the point. If you can at least get 20% more WP and by that reasoning at least 10% more SP by fighting at the point, it wouldn't be as insulting as trying everything you can and not getting any benefit for trying.
5. For the team that has a chokehold on the point, it encourages the attackers to continue coming for at least the extra 20% WP. Being on the side of the stomp, when it is really really bad, can be boring as hell. 6 minutes into the game and the enemy team are all redlined. They aren't coming out, you have no one to shoot, and it is just a manner of sitting out the time. There is potential that the 20% bonus will encourage more fighting around that area.
6. Similar to 5, it creates a larger focus. One of the reasons I prefer Domination over Ambush is that the central area gives a place to congregate and shoot each other. Walking around trying to find someone to shoot is not as interesting as just shooting people. Extending the bonus gives an incentive to both sides and further creates that central area of shooting. This adds some greater structure beyond just being Ambush.
"You can just use Defend Order." This requires a team. People who happen to be on the winning side require no such additional effort in order to receive the bonus. It merely evens the playing field.
"This promotes camping the objective." The current bonus already promotes that. In fact, that is THE point of the bonus is to give people a reason to fight at the Objective. Expanding it simply evens the playing field.
"This removes the drive to capture the objective." The bonus would give a reason to fight in the area. When the coast is clear, people will grab it for the 100 WP and in order to win. Winning was enough of a reason to grab the Objective before the bonus was created. This change just levels the playing field so that people who try to help their team win are rewarded regardless of the score.
Thoughts, suggestions, opinions?

Thanks for the bumps and support. Is there any potential problem I missed that I could possibly attempt to rectify?
I know this isn't as sexy as jump guys but I believe this to be a change that could make this game a little bit more enjoyable to both sides.

This is thanks to that wonderful 150 WP requirement. The only way to fix this is to give incentive for the win. Bonus SP on the victory side would probably be the best but it could also be ISK, guaranteed high level salvage, or even keys. I have seen plenty of games of Dominion where people just give up before and after the 150 WP requirement was implemented. 150 requirement was meant to stop true afk farming. It has little, or nothing, to do with lack of trying.
I welcome dissent but I am curious what your primary concern is so that I could see possible issues.

DRT 99 wrote:why isnt this done already?
only issue i see is that then people might care less about capping. maybe give a 20% bonus to the team with the objective and a 15% bonus to the team without the objective? If people don't care about capping already for the 20% bonus, making it a 15 vs 20% bonus won't change it. Yes, I technically am building an argument against one of my points but I still think 20% for those that are trying or at least in the area so the people that are stomping can shoot them is a better idea.
Thanks for the post.

LOOKMOM NOHANDS wrote:I say make it an objective attack bonus by making it apply when the enemy controls the letter.
What gives more incentive to fight back against a full stomp, bonuses for camping the letter or bonuses for attacking when the enemy has it? "My team is winning so we are not getting rewarded for defending thew point" is my concern though. When it isn't a stomp but a bloody struggle for the point, which does happen, you don't want to make the side that takes it not get a bonus for doing a good job.
