yeah it's becoming more and more of a problem. where do people get all this ISK to keep running proto all the time, like in ambushes; who runs proto in an ambush? Apparantly half the community. Is it just the higher ups who have so many PC battles that they make tons of ISK and can afford to run it all the time.
I recently have been running cheaper gear to try to make some money cuz my funds are slowly dwindling. I can do alright with cheap stuff and make a buck, but if you get one squad of OH or something then you can kiss you k/d goodbye cuz they will run proto all the way. Can't remember the last OH player who wasn't running proto; maybe just coincidence on my part.
If you do the math and count up a proto user's deaths, you'll see that he definetly lost a couple hundred thousand. Where does all that money come from? Maybe I just don't play enough to notice but I very rarely see the big corps running non-proto gear (dunno if they gotta keep their image up in pubs). Most of us have to do a little grinding in ADV or ST gear to have the funds to run all that proto.
I do get in PC here and there and make money. It just seems like the mediocre players are constantly left out of PC and therefore have to grind to make ISK, and therefore the people who get picked as favorites for PC constantly have the money to out-gun the less fortunate and cuz some frustration and discontent with this game (hence causing people to not want to play).
Bottom line, people don't want to play when they're getting proto stomped and have no means of proto stomping back. |

funny thing is: immediately after I typed my last comment, I ran an ambush in basic gear. I died 5 times to a full proto wearing enemy, all 5 deaths were from a core locus grenade, and 2 of those were OH players. PROTO in AMBUSH?? come on guys... I can run proto too but I don't have hundreds of million ISK that I got from "where-ever" |

If i had 1 mil of 1 bil, i would still be fine running proto gear...i made money using it when i was actively playing and could do it again (and no, i wasn't with a proto squad) just if there was a good squad on the enemy team, i would lose ISK
you saying you made money using a full proto suit? you could barely die twice before losing money. so I guess the big question is: how does one make a hundred million ISK so they can proto stomp? is there a legit method to this or is it only a vet player thing from back in the day? are newer or non--vets screwed into grinding just to go against a decked out squad? COD is a so-so game imo but I think people like it cuz you can pick it up and compete; you don't get stomped by people with better gear and in-game skills. This game takes years of dedication to become godlike. I WANT A MILLION ISK!! |

I look at the scoreboard and most people die more than twice. I don't care what kind of suit you're wearing, if it's proto with a proto weapon and grenades then you lost money, plain and simple. Don't gimme that "well if you learn to use it then you won't have a problem and will make money". I almost NEVER see a single one of you go a match with 2 deaths or less, which means you're obviously getting ISK elsewhere or had it from the open beta like I did. I ran lots of proto but the funds don't last forever unless in you're in a big corp and you're favored to get into plenty PCs. Or they have it left over from when the big corps got to hord ISK during the broken days.
On that note: I've seen many leave this game from getting left out of PC too many times. They get bored from not having any action and going broke from getting proto stomped in pubs. And some of them are good players, just not in one of those 'clicks'. So as they say: the rich get richer... |
