When I named this merc about 2 years ago I was simply thinking of a really... "alien" sort of name. Something that sounded weird and foreign and the sort of thing some could spend a lifetime without hearing it. Today, however, I was bored and suddenly I though: "Hey, I wonder if google translate can find a meaning in my merc's name." So I checked and well... apparently google says I'm a horse. Jaran = Horse in Javanese (not japanese, javanese) 
Can google translate any of your names? and if not, what made you name your mercs with their given name in particular?

My EVE character was called Arkenai Wyrnspire and I couldn't use the same name here, so I chopped a bit off.
I can't really remember how I named him initially.

My other character, xSaloLx, while ignoring the x's, is the last four letters of my real name backwards with an L than signifies "Lemato," which is a portmanteau of lemon and tomato... Don't worry about the origin.
Bonus: My Eve character is named Salo LaZuri, the surname comes from "lapis lazuli" a blue colored stone (because I though it sounded cool and blue is one of my favorite colors).

The name "Michael Epic" comes from my stage name back when I was making music and thought I would make it in music.
I kept the name because I liked it and I got compliments everywhere I went about it.....and of course the "Epic name bro" jokes were always funny :D

The inspiration for this character's name is the film "Le Mans". The antagonist is called "Erich Stahler" and I was impressed with how stereotypical that name sounded. So I upped it a bit and came up with this one. |

In Shadowrun on the SNES it was the name of a boss who you had to get his true name, Laughlyn and Nirwanda, so my EVE is Laughlyn, dust is Nirwanda. the Vaughns bit is cos i was watching Dosgeball at the time and wanted a surname for my char lol

Elgost is my original screen name back from Runscape WAAAAY back when.
Was supposed to be named after Elegost from Lord of the Rings: The Third Age. Except I forgot a letter.
Kinda Stuck. Added on EVL_ when I joined a clan. They just called me Ghost.
Came here, stuck with Ghost. Kaisar sounded cool.
And thus, Ghost Kaisar was born.

Viktor Revon was my EVE back when I didn't have $$ problems.
Raven was what I was regularly called, so I decided to add something in (Originally loyal to Amarr... originally) and it was taken by a Gallente. (Who I must say... was extremely stupid, and a Gal Loyalist.) Added a space and ****** up with the caps.
Anyway, Viktor Revon -> Raven -> Sir Raven Wing.
To anger a calm man like me is a near impossible task...

I was drinking Root Beer when I made my Runescape account back in 2nd grade. Hence the "Fizzer". Fizzer has been my screen name for almost 13 years now. It's not going anywhere. You could yell that on the street and I'd respond...
The suffix used to be "94", which is my birth year.
Then I biomassed Fizzer94. Noragrets. It was a scummy Caldari clone anyway...
Made a new merc. A better, more superior, pure blooded Amarrian merc.
"XCIV" is the number 94 in Roman Numerals.
Therefore, Fizzer XCIV.

not really sure.. not a big tolkein or football fan to being with. it just seemed appropriate for the time and i got a laugh from the pun of it when it popped into my head one day. it's kind of annoying tho because ppl on mic im first playing with always have a commentary about it and expect some elaborate explanation, i'm like bro it's just a name. my last PC i rang for instead of pre match game plans the whole conversation was about my name- needles to say we lost that one.
then there was the politically correct white knighter who complained all the time that it is rude and offensive. i think he was a sniper and bragged about mining in eve who used to average 2/15kd a match. i'm like bro you should be more concerned about your horrible performance every match instead of my name. |

There's an old game I played for much too long; The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion.
In that game, there's a town named Cheydinhal, my favorite town.
The town guards are all Cheydinhal Guards. You get the gist.
I see some Ex- Runscape players in this thread  I too played RS. My PSN name, Woodstock763, is my old RS name. It's pretty much my first choice for online usernames.

I suck at coming up with names and sat there for like thirty minutes try to decide. Then the random thought hit me, bright steel. It's from a book I read back in school.
I've made some alts with better names but they are so far behind in SP I never use them. Now after more then a year it's stuck and not going anywhere.

Back when I was playing Runescape, League of Heroes (a Facebook game, it was fun but it died long ago) and a lot of other stuff, I was known as Agent Havoc. No matter the game, it was always that. When I grew more mature, the name felt silly but I still wanted something like that.
VAH is Hav backwards and the zz is filler for oc, covah would be silly.
I like to think VAHZZ is synonymous to insanity, considering how I portray myself on the forums and sometimes IRL. I have alts with better names tho.

Baldwin the second was King of Jerusalem from 1118-1131. I picked the name because I was reading a history of the Crusades at the time and also playing Medieval Total War 2. Also it hadn't been taken by someone else. Also the Crusades are crazy interesting. |
