Should I do more? Something different, or should I try to make this more official?

The competitive aspect of dust has been a facade since DNS. You are basically saying John Cena beat up the rock. We all know it's fake. We all know those proto squads can't cut it in real games so they stay here in dust so they can feel elite. It matters very little to anyone who actually has watched dust unfold over the last couple years. Sorry someone had to tell you.

I like the news itself, I think it is interesting.
I think a Dust News show monthly or bi monthly would be quite unique and interesting. It would fill a niche the Podcast doesn't.

about your final question: "do they have the power to take them back?" Not really, but also: why would they? atm there is no need to have a lot of districts unless it is to show that you have more districts. Not a single mechanic in PC makes you want to hold a lot of district or makes you want to flip other corps.
There is a lot that has to be done about PC cause atm it is only for veteran players bored of playing pubs, or at least that's why me and a lot of other players play PC.
One of the few assaults you'll find in a PC match!

There is a lot that has to be done about PC cause atm it is only for veteran players bored of playing pubs, or at least that's why me and a lot of other players play PC. I have to disagree with a couple of things here.
1) It's true that there's little incentive to holding so many districts, but there is one main one. Bragging rights. Nyain San has held 20% of the districts since pretty much a month after the PC's were released. Even when passive isk farming was removed they actually continued to have a desire to hold them.
2) There may not be a mechanic now, but in the future there might be. And It's easier to hold onto a bunch of districts now then to try and get them all later
3) True it's only for vetern players, but that's because TC's (team commanders) always want to take prototype users into the battles. No point spending 50 mil isk (if iyou buy a clone pack) or a couple of million isk on suits if a couple of guys are going to drag the rest of the team down.
4) I'm a veteran player and I play PC for 3 reasons: One because it's finally fixed and no where near as laggy as it use to be, TWO because my corp and alliance mates request it of me, and THREE because it is a great feeling to win against a strong opponent. Too often when you come across a strong opponent in pub matches or faction warfare you don't have a team that can help you win against them and you just end up wasting isk and lose.
Sincerely,

Even after the PR fiasco of the 2014 fan fest, many players still come to Dust. Why? Cause it's a fun game... at times. It is true that there are plenty of moments that you want to break the system or throw your controller (lost a number of friends that way), but that can be said for basically EVERY MMO or FPS game out there.
I've played COD, Battlefield, Halo, Unreal Tournament, Battlefront and loads of other FPS games and yet I still come back to Dust. Why is that do you think? Because it's a good game. Does it have issues? of course! Unlike most games that have come out, Dust is what you would call an Agile project/game. Meaning that they are constantly working to improve it until they finally have that diamond game. Will it ever reach that point? probably not, but it's the CCP dream.

The competitive aspect of Dust is so small because the entry to PC has always been too steep. The jump from pub matches to top tier PC matches is hard to fathom. The ISK needed for a group to "learn how to PC" is simply too much. The time and effort needed is a huge burden due to the lack of in game tools to manage logistics.
There is still nothing to bridge the gap from pub match to PC. While maybe not intentional, the competitive aspect of Dust is playing out the way it was designed.

I'd also suggest because Molden Heath is too limited a place. Attempting to move into a region EVE side isn't easy, moreover Molden Heath is in the galactic South if I am not mistaken and owned my the Minnies..... that's bloody difficult to deal with for a corp like mine.

If one region has 245 districts in it, imagine what the 63 regions would bring? lets just assume for ease of arguments sake that they have the same number of regions.
245 x 64 = 15,680
For now, that's more districts than active players and would be a terrible idea. Plus, at the moment there's no point to an expansion.
AT MOST, I would say expand to 3 more regions of space. That way a PC region could be controlled by each racial faction.

I had this awesome idea and to make it actually look like a news report. Give it some static effects every once in a while to make it look like an older tv, or that it's being broadcasted from a far off location, give the strip at the bottom something more special and definitely change up the Dust 5.14 News logo a bit.
The problem with that idea is that I tried to LEARN how to do ALL of that while at the same time trying to make the video in the first place. I probably spent about 20 frustrating hours working on things before finally screaming at my monitor and going for something much simpler. Of course the idea was to get it out as soon as possible. Since the event ended Sunday afternoon (for me anyway) then it would have been awesome to get it out Sunday night. Then when that became impossible I accepted for a late release on Monday morning... but once again, my lack of skill (I didn't look into this stuff since I never thought I'd make such a video) forced delays. Finally I became so angry that I went for a MUCH simpler idea. Now of course, when I make the next one it should be a hole different beast in and of itself.
I've got a few ideas that I could do that could lead to some new News (like the give away of the majority of those recently captured districts), but in the end News is created at it's own pace. And of course now that I like this idea for future videos I'm going to get in contact with some CEO's, Directors, Friends, Pilots and whoever I can to try to get information that's news worthy.

Fair enough. On the audio end, what editing software do you use? Reaper is simple enough and if you spend a little time with it you should be able to do most of what you need. It's free too. Kind of.
Also for recording I noticed a few pops on P's and B's. First thing that comes to mind that could have cause that would be if you had the recording device directly in front of your mount. You want it just below or perhaps to the side so it doesn't catch those pops

I've got trial periods for both so it's great for costs.
Audio pops. Good advice, I'll make sure to try it out in about 5 minutes when I go back to recording. I originally bought a pop guard, but the grip is angled for some reason and makes it hard to mount. Plus its so cheap of a guard. I found a better solution, a t-shirt. I'm not kidding. For the most part it works great, but sometimes when I get angry/excited my accent comes in more heavily and I'll still get the pops. I've only been doing these videos for about a month so I'm still getting use to things. Thanks for the advice though and if you got more keep them coming. If I get better, the videos get better.

Not only were they not the only corp attacking Nyain San (I know because I fought for Random Gunz and Outer.Heaven) but they have also yet to "give out" any of the districts that they took. Maybe they're taking their time with the districts, maybe the timers and locks have yet to allow them to, but I know for certain that they have the same number of districts as of this moment as they did Sunday Night.
If you have any relevant information about this event then please let me know. I actually fully intend on talking with your CEO about this if I can get the chance to get online soon. But for now, I'm simply going off information that I witnessed and what I can research.
Sincerely,

Lol you don't know anything you do realize Nyain gave your corp your first districts and they were over 100 districts at one point during passive isk gen and they gave over half of them away |

You're absolutely right. I don't know why I bother with replying to forum posts that don't add anything to the discussion.
- Nyain San did at one point own a large portion of the districts.
- This was during the passive isk gen days
- They did "give" a number of their districts away
...and?

and what do you mean they only lost 20? They owned 20% of all the districts. Then they went down to almost 3%.
What else about Nyain San did I "get wrong?" Is Nyain San not recognized by the majority of Dust players? The animosity of the other players? The passive isk farming? the always proto? What about how the majority of their district timers were always set to the same time? Or the fact that they tend to lag their opponents every game? Because most of the people I know say that Nyain San lags the game. I know for a fact that groups of Nyain San use to put equipment spams under the MCC's to add to lag.

Here is some of the false info if not all i can elaborate if you would like - There is no official policy in NS about having to run proto gear all the time - 40 District were not flipped more like 20 - NS district were set after downtime not before - This wasn't the largest attack in Dust History - NS never locked districts the only time NS locked districts was when everyone did it and NS joined in with other member of RA so CCP could fix the issue.(This was when corps would get refunded isk when a no showed occurred) |

The majority of their timers were right after down time.
However, this was the largest attack (both in player count, corp count, and districts used/attacked/taken) in less than a 12 hour period.
If Nyain san does/did not have a prototype only policy then friends of mine were removed for curious reasons.
I still don't understand where you're getting 20 from. Please explain.
"NS never locked... only time... when everyone did it..." So they did lock districts then?
Sincerely,

"NS never locked... only time... when everyone did it..." So they did lock districts then? - This is where I'm getting the 20 districts from http://evemaps.dotlan.net/districts/changes - There were two prior mass attacks on NS by spanish corps corp this was when NS had more districts, The FEC had more districts under attack and the DNS fallout had more districts under attack - The only time NS locked was when there was a glitch when you could send an attack on a district if a no showed occurred isk would be refunded, this was back when NS was in RA, and RA was the only alliance not doing this and we just got tried of being attacked and not being able to send attacks out so RA decided to lock districts to force CCP to fix the issue and CCP eventually fixed it (RA is short for Renegade Alliance) |

I'm at a loss for words. I used http://www.dustcharts.com/ for the districts and it showed Nyain San owning 20% of the districts, then they owned about 3%. Math says and district flips on the site shows they lost more but dotlan does indeed show about 20 only. However, the video still says that NS was attacked by a number of corps and alliances, so technically I'm not wrong, just a little off on the date. However, NS still lost a large number of districts on Sunday due to a sustained and large attack.
I never said that NS locked their districts like last week. I simply said that players could not attack them a certain points in their ownership of districts and that NS (and others) angered corps trying to get into the PC world because of this.

BrotherofHavok wrote:Proto Annihilator wrote:The competitive aspect of dust has been a facade since DNS. You are basically saying John Cena beat up the rock. We all know it's fake. We all know those proto squads can't cut it in real games so they stay here in dust so they can feel elite. It matters very little to anyone who actually has watched dust unfold over the last couple years. Sorry someone had to tell you. REAL GAMES? What you mean like Destiny? Will it ever reach that point? probably not, but it's the CCP dream.
hm lets see 329 est standard time which makes it about 839 to 1039 in parts of europe. in other words, prime time for gaming across the pond, yet there are only 2508 people on. yep many players still coming to dust. dust has not been competitive for awhile regardless of what you think.
for the record, destiny is garbage.
