The very often presented metalevel matches are a very good idea, but only if we had a bigger playerbase. It would take ages to find matches for any of the meta servers and if implemented to FW we would never find a match there, AND also it would feel less and less like a sandbox experience as Dust is intended to be. These formulas ever so often promoted here are also very good ideas if it weren't quite complicated to implement into the game. If it wasn't it would already have been done. AND also it would feel less and less like a sandbox experience as Dust is intended to be.
The simplest way to quickfix protostomping today is to close the matches as soon as 32 players have joined and make it impossible to join them after. It would quickly get very tiresome for squads of protostompers such as well known Kaizuka & co.(on US servers) and Extacy & co.(on euro servers) to get in a match and when half through it more than half the other team has left the match(ragequit) and it will take ages for them to finish each match. These people will never make the top 10 kills a week anymore because kills/min will decrease drastically. They won't accept that and therefore they are forced to play in less competitive squads(smaller maybe) and thus will make pubs less frustrating for newer and less experienced players.
This is at least quickfix for ambush.
Also if you would CCP decrease the squad sizes again please down to 4.... 6 is to loud and OP.

I am just hoping they make the meta locks apply only to pubs and not have a level for full proto at all.
This way if people want to run full proto they can only do it in FW or PC. |

BOOOOOOOO BOOOOOOO to you sir.
What is the sense of skilling up your skill tree if you cant use the bennies from it? What is the point.
Reduce the squad size. Team work is what kills , not crack and not proto gear. |

Being able to go run full proto in FW is the same as running full proto in a higher meta level pub match except you are actually going to have to go participate in the lower meta modes to feed your habit. |

I totally agree on the first part.
On the second part... That must be the ugliest fix on the issue we've seen so far =P Sorry. That would make it boring for everyone else on the same game, on both sides. Also it would break many normal games where there are regular DCs or few leaving the match for other reasons.
Looking at both sides of the coin.
Even Aurum one.

this happened to me in a domination a long time ago (weeks)
We played this like any other, proto gear w/ PC tactics. Stomped the hell outta the enemy team and redlined them in 2 minutes. Then 2 left....1 more....2 more....then all of them left when they realised there was no one joining.
for 15 minutes we did nothing but play 'chicken in the redline' to see who would get the furthest in the redline without dying AND coming back, and LAV racing

Hisec/Losec/Nullsec pubs makes more sense imo, maybe even + Team Deploy in 0.0 if corp battles don't come back. FW/PC are too specialized (for lack of a better term - FW's lore/EVE relationship and lack of isk payout + PC's corp/social requirements and relatively limited access) to force everyone wanting to run high meta gear into them.
Reality is the original Rorschach.
Verily! So much for all that.

Hmm yeah, that was how they extended the redline in the first place. Because we were running in there and killing as many people as I could, before I "self destructed". I dunno. I think that there should be tiers. 1st tier, Basic gear. 2nd tier Basic + Advanced. 3rd tier, anything goes. Also why the kitten didn't we ever get that thunderdome?

My .02 ISK is that it would be nice if we could have our cake and eat it too.
That would mean A) not splitting up the population and B) providing a good experience for protostomping vet squads and fo noobs.
We need some creative ideas to make this viable. One set of rules might be:
1) Metacap on Squads only limited roughly to ADV on average but minmaxing still possible.
2) Payouts of ISK/WP bonused for low mu players vs. high mu players/squads to make sticking with the battle yield something besides a tender kittenhole.
3) 4 merc squads for pubs to make the teambuilder's job easier.
4) Default solos into squads, default comms on.
Just some ideas meant to prevent breaking up the population - one of the best things DUST has going for it is the common social space. Would be a minor tragedy to see us broken up by metalocks.

If we really wanted a social encouragement area. We'd get a war barge or promenade, for the entire comminity to be able to meet, hang out, get hired. The community is already seperated and divided by local channels. The community of DUST and EVE isn't very high. I do agree, the last thing this community needs, is to have any seperation. I also agree, that there should be some amount of reward for taking down proto players, with lower level gear. To be perfectly honest, I did it frequently, but that was more of a personal thing.

I really need to leave games when my team stomping the enemy team, I have had situations where there are 0 reds or there was only a single red coming charging the enemy with his tank, I did not go AV and hunt as well because that might have scared him off.

Yes, this was already supposed to be partially implemented last patch, but for whatever reason, they haven't gotten around to fixing it. People are not supposed to join matches that are almost over, but I agree with your post, you could just change the algorithm to prevent people joining matches that have started (or within the 1st 30 seconds)... that way the algorithm is simple and YES, the byproduct is absolutely what you describe - proto stompers will actually have an empty match to preside over.
Now, will this change behaviour? Maybe... |

Yeaaap that's the answer...
PC: Ultimate mode... do your best.
Nullsec battles = try to survive kaizuka and outher haven stompers... reward. Keys-strongboxes, officer-dropsuits weapons
Lowsec = Battles FW.... reward Loyality points, some faction gear etc.
Hisec = Meta-lock Basic-adv gear, Fun, learn team play, reward, ISK more SP per battle.

I think I like this. however I think that the best answer is for CCP to figure out how to match full squads against eachother
