I see it as equivalent to a forward grip and compensator that you'd see in other games...
So yeah, useful.
Not as obvious as the Amarr or Minmatar ones, but just as useful in terms of actual advantages it provides.

Not skilled into sidearms though. The AR's don't need any type of range buff because they aren't meant to fight at those ranges. Instead it needs 2x Damage from 0-5m, 1.5x damage from 5-10m and 1.2x damage from 10-15m The CR isn't meant to have large clips, the SCR isn't meant to have reduced heat, etc. However, it isn't even doing it's own job of being No.1 in CQC, it's the Assualt Rifle, yet it's behind the ACR
First of all, let's get this cleared up.
The AR is not supposed to be the best gun for CQC. Period. Its not even a CQC weapon.
By virtue of being a rifle, it is a mid range weapon, and the range it has matches up with that.
What it is supposed to be is the best rifle for close-mid range engagements. Not the "King of CQC", as many would like it to be.
If you want a CQC weapon, use a Shotgun or Knives. Rifles are not supposed to be an end all for CQC. Not even a Gallente Rifle.

Yes the Gallente assault rifle is supposed to be the best CQC rifle out of all racial rifles in the game.
Only an idiot would argue what's being supposed. That's like saying "The Rail rifle isn't supposed to be the king of Long Range combat. That's the sniper rifles job!" no ****.
Well the way people make it sound is as if they think the AR should be the best weapon to use bar none in the 0-15m range...

Almost nobody clarifies that, and I doubt that is what many are actually thinking.
They almost always just say "the AR should be King of CQC", pretty much word for word...
Look at DeadlyAztec11s proposed buff, as an example. The thing would outclass shotguns, and do 900-1000 DPS at 5m.
So excuse me for getting a completely different reading from people than you do...

Combat Rifle - annoying but balanced from what I can tell.
Combat Rifle +Minmatar Assault bonus -Textbook OP status. How does 13 more rounds make a weapon OP?
Its a huge bonus.
But the AR has a larger damage per magazine than the ACR anyway, so it doesn't make it OP really.
