CCP makes money off of plex. CCP did not make money off of Cubs under the table transaction.
As far as they are concerned, only CCP are allowed to profit off of anything related to the game unless a business deal has been previously struck with them. In the early days of MMO's, it was considered unethical to buy an advantage in a game over someone who actually earned it. Obviously these days, the landscape has changed in this industry. This entire game is based on buying advantages.
So why are bans handed out? Simply put -- If your name isn't CCP, you're not allowed to profit. Companies do not want that landscape to change right now, so watch your ass.
