This is what we tried to make happen before the EWAR and other changes, to make Scouts less like Assaults.
However, since Assaults were made to be more like Scouts, simply changing the Scout side of the equation will only reduce their numbers much more significantly.
I am hoping this is a troll, because I can't believe that with some of the numbers of suit usage you would somehow believe Scouts are still competing with Assaults on front lines. It is a preposterous conclusion.

Which definition better fits scouts in the current meta? Your own bias definitions without any citations don't hold any weight here I am afraid.
CCP gets to decide what Scouts and Assaults are meant to be.

At least you used citations.
However, I don't recall Dictionary.com developing Dust...
FYI, scouts were used in battle historically. Just look at Gettysburg for example. Lee's scouts (who were notoriously out of touch in the days prior), were used to try to flank the fish hook and try to take Little Round Top. They were stopped before they could really do anything, but they still fought.
Again, your bias is showing and holds no weight.

How am I being biased when I simply quoted the definition and asked if it accurately represented the class? If anything you are being clouded by your bias towards scouts. As a whole, those who have been using such definitions wish to limit Scouts to doing nothing a conventional FPS requires.
I think all classes should have a role, including Scouts.
When Assaults were UP, I offered suggestions and support to bring them up to par.
I am certainly bias towards Scouts, but I neither want them OP nor UP, anymore than any other role.
