Beware. Random ramblings ahead spawned by late hours and a lack of social interaction (AKA: A girlfriend) that may only mean something to a handful of mercs. In before pointless thread comments.
So... Title... Yea. It's been far too long since I've managed to acquire a little place to call home. Jumping between a few corps throughout the early days of playing this game, I got lucky in finding Psygod9. The CEO reminded me of a few friends from other games, cool guy all in all and I certainly miss em, even if his last few months in the game were spent spamming tanks and complaining about how broken the game was... (Not that I can disagree.) Negativity aside though, that corp was kind of like a second, er... third... fourth... family? Sheesh... I've been playing videogames way too long. Almost every game I've gone through though that I got really invested in, I'd always find one of these corps, a place where I felt comfortable and got to enjoy talking to the players in.
Like all good things though, eventually it faded. The CEO got bored of the game and moved onto other things as most sane people would do after playing Dust for two years. This wasn't before the corporation merged with a few others, but at the time, I wasn't really willing to let go I suppose. It was just something I'd gotten so used to, and I wasn't all that interested in joining K.E.Q (Though quite a few of the remaining Psygod9 members merged with them) Breaking off from a dead corp was only natural at that point though, and I've been running solo ever since, occasionally picking up corp invites, a few of which were from old friends.
Up till a few weeks ago, I usually just ignored them, but it's been getting a bit lonely playing solo for so long. Recent invites to corps like O.H. and Third Rock from friends both new and old really got me wanting to join up, but like with K.E.Q, most of those invites had never really resonated very strongly. I'd hop into the chat channel for a few days, LFS for a few hours, and never really get an invite. In the case of O.H., I couldn't even get the time of day from the CEO. Well, that's too bad! I don't have to sit here and help you wash your hairy bagpipes, I can breath radioactive mouth lasers!
Ahem... um... So, that was usually the case with most of the corps I'd go to check out. They never really felt like home, just a place to find a squad at best, and at worst, another chat room to help Dust freeze on an hourly basis. Now the dilemma rears its' not so ugly head. Recent invites from friends and people I actually enjoy talking to to Third Rock, Horizon's Edge, and Corrosive Synergy have left me in a complete pickle. On one hand, Dreis has claimed dibs on my booty... I-I mean... my Plasma Cannon! ... for T.R. And... no homo, but I rather enjoy squading up with the guy. Problem is, he's... one of the few in the corp I actually know/like. Saxon's a good slayer, but I think the closest we've ever gotten was the back of my hand across his face during an ambush. I suppose he did spawn on my uplinks that one time, but... wasn't exactly a romantic date either time.
Beast and Lugmos are both pretty cool, though I suppose I don't know them all that well and haven't managed to squad with them too often. There's the Youtube channels though, so that's a plus... I swear, I actually love you guys and don't want your bodies simply for stardom! No, but really, anyone who runs around with Plasma Cannons, pimpslapping people is cool in my book.
Annnnd... then there's Horizon's Edge... I... honestly don't hardly know the CEO, and when Epic invited me, I'd only recently come across him in a match. We had some rather entertaining 1v1's around a socket in a skirmish match though and I'd spotted him before in a few matches, but I don't think we'd ever exchanged messages before that. It was a great time though, and the invite was rather nice... though I think he was trying to bribe me with crack or something... Oddly enough... I've felt the most at home here. I have no clue what it is, but the people I've been in a squad with thus far, including zDemoncake, have all seemed quite friendly and the company has been rather nice. I'm not sure how they do in PC, but in terms of social interaction (I know, I'm sad relying on a videogame for that.) I've rather enjoyed it. Still have yet to hook up my mic and really get talking, but it's just been a nice experience over all.
And thus my inability to make decisions arises. I like all the guys (... I'm gonna need a lot more no homo to make that one sound normal...) that have invited me and I'm pretty sure they all do PC... huh... I forgot about Kubo and Planet Express there for a bit... I'M STILL MAD AT YOU FOR PULLING OUT YOUR AR WHEN WE WERE HAVING THAT PLASMA CANNON FIGHT, YOU ***! Jk... totallynotI'mgonnaburnyourhousedowninyoursleep~ But... where was I... Ah, yes... I have no clue who to join at this point. I kind of just want to be in all three... and Dreis already called dibs... wouldn't want to disappoint the one buying me dinner under the moonlit sky~ I like cinnamon scented candles, by the way~ But I'm not really sure if I could fit in there, not to mention I really only know a few people... and they don't talk much, I like listening to people talk for some reason... makes me feel less alone I suppose.
End ramblings.
Sweet technicolor horses, I can't wait to be able to clear a building in a single bound! Hotfix Echo is going to be the best thing ever! /)^3^(\

Oh wow. That's a lot. You guys are seriously awesome... now then, let's see...
@CUSE TOWN333
I can't put such a large group down, but I tend to handle better in the smaller families. It's just easier to feel at home when you're not getting swept under the rug by the more skilled players. It was still nice getting the invites though. ^~^
@zDemoncake
I hate to say this, but... someone special has to mention you for you to feel special. Get rid of those special feelings, Private, ON THE DOUBLE!
@Edau Skir2
I might pop in for a short while to see what's up, visit a few of you guys and enjoy the company.
@VAHZZ
Out of all the comments in this thread, this one made me laugh the most. Totally worth the public love just for that!
@saxonmish
Thanks, Sax, and that definitely doesn't surprise me. You've managed to set up quite the corp~
@Mejt0
Agreed on the first part, but I have to disagree on the second. I think you can definitely make enough friends in some of these corps to always have someone to chat with and do whatever the heck tickles the Plasma Cannon, it's just a tad more difficult at times... annnnnnd... now I'm wanting a good MMO...
@CommanderBolt
Different strokes for different folks, but it's great that you've gotten into a corp that you really enjoy! That is the point of videogames, after all. Entertainment and expression.
@Forced Death
No homo, right~? ALL OF THE HOMO! I hear ya though, takes a bit of time to learn what you like. I'm not actually sure if I dropped into the CS chat yet. I've checked out the others, but I can't recall dropping in to check on you guys.
@Draxus Prime
I've seen you around, Draxus, though I'm... not honestly sure if we've ever squadded up... My memory is crap, but I know I've spotted you in a few games and of course, here on the forums.
@DAAAA BEAST
This... legitimately made me smile. It's always an absolute treat to hear that I managed to, dare I say, inspire someone to something... even if it is on a videogame. You've definitely upped your game though, and I'm glad I could be the one to point you towards a pair of options in Dust that are so much fun! Also, I'm pretty sure you did invite me to your corp. I remember you asking me while we were in a game, though I'm not sure if that was the one you made before, or the one you're in now... it wasn't all that long ago. Thanks though, Beast. It's always a pleasure squadding with you!
@Michael Epic
I've definitely been getting that feeling. It's just nice having a group of people to squad with that work well together and aren't constantly raging at their TV's. And you won't be hearing any arguments there, it definitely seems to be a nice little corp! ... I don't know why you'd say that though~ I had more fun 1v1'ing you than I usually do just playing Dust~ I'm personally hoping we get some alone time again some day soon~ *Eyebrow waggle*
@ReGnYuM
I know Dreis cleared this up, but... yea... She does get rather warm when you fire a few magazines through her though~
@Ralis Sharn
Squadding with awesome people always makes for great games, and thank you! ^~^ It was fun!
@Dreis Shadowweaver
I think I'm gonna give that a shot... maybe... I dunno, I get the feeling I'd feel bad for corp hopping like that, don't know why. Thanks for the support though, Dreis. ^~^
@Yeeeuuuupppp
It can definitely be tough finding something to replace the original. Most games I've come across, once that first major corp you joined fell apart, the game had usually run its' course in terms of entertainment value and a new game took its' place. Dust presented a bit of a problem there. XD And I believe I'm already there! Would love to get together again and share the joys of the Cannon with some unsuspecting redberries~ I hope you manage to find a place you like though, every immortal merc deserves a place to call home.
@Jathniel
... Solid life advice on an internet game forum...? BEGONE, DEMON! THOU HATH NO POWER HERE!
I actually don't know how to respond to something so sound here. >.> Thank you though, it's nice to see a few people with their heads screwed on tight and willing to offer some good advice, especially when it revolves around something not related to the game.
@Joel II X
I only have one thing to say to you, you lucky Quafe BPO snagging ******...
BACON WRAPPED PIZZA!
Stay bacon, my friend. ... ****... now I'm hungry...
Again, thank you, everyone. It was very nice to see so much feedback. You guys are definitely awesome. ^~^
