No, but if you attach a magnet to a screwdriver, it tends to stay magnetic for a while (made good use of this taking things apart in the past.)
Also, it was nice knowing you... The feminisms will dispose of you and swiftly replace you with a robot that constantly apologises for having ever said...

Since you did say they came out of a cracker... If your screwdriver is plastic, this isn't going to end well for any of us.
On a more useful note, I was always told to touch tools and hands against a radiator (or something grounded) to remove static... If your screwdriver is statically charged it could damage something... But I've almost never done this, it should be fine unless you go poking at the circuit board with it anyway. |

Raptor Princess wrote:Does it matter what kind of radiator? Is it the heat, or something else that removes the static? Does it matter if it's a gas or electric heater? And yes, I realise that this is probably a stupid question too.
It's nothing to do with it being a heater, just down to something being metal and grounded (I'm not that great with these things, I just picked up what I can from my bro who works with 'electrical crud'.)
But like I said, I haven't bothered doing this in years of pulling my PS3 or the controller apart and they still work (well the controller does, the PS3 went all ylod on me many months after I last pulled it apart.)
The main thing he said was just not to go poking at any of the chips. |
