so i know the graphics need to be like they are for A: to keep within the eve universe aesthetic and B: to make sure the game attracts new players, as well as C: by law unreal 3 games are required to have glowy bloom and sun shafts, so maybe lowering the resolution will allow us to keep the same graphics but also boost the frame rate to 60fps, i'm not entirely sure if this would be possible to do and i can imagine people complaining about having to decide between better fps and object recognition from greater dispenses but anyways :3 thoughts? |

You can already setup your PS3 to output 480p if you want to, and force dust to output to that resolution.
You do get about ~5 FPS more (anecdotal), but the textures take a beating. You cannot distinguish enemies with the terrain in many cases and the overlay responsible for the icons on the map and the chevrons over people's heads gets horribly distorted (wrong positions). |

that WOULD help, but personally i think from the start they should have been focusing on what the ps3 could comfortably handle, instead they shoved real time shadows in, added some fancy overlay effect for vehicles when they use modules, added godrays, normal maps, high detail explosion effects etc, there's so much in there that i'm not surprised it runs terribly, i'm not kidding when i say i wish they would have just put in half life/halo 1 level graphics or something, at least then it would run smoothly >.< |
