Right now range amps are pretty useless; proto range amps on a cal scout gives 5m to medium, 6m to far passive scan range, and on other suits it's less.
To fix that they should give these flat non-percentile bonuses (stacking penalties should still apply): Complex: 15m Advanced: 10m Standard: 5m

na. let people play. No stacking penalty. there's really no reason we shouldn't be able to USE the damn radars.

I like it EVE online style. Why can't we have 20%/25%/30% with stacking penalties applying? At the same time classes that should be good at spotting(scouts, assaults to a lesser degree) should have base values that make signal amps useful I also like sensor boosters, for a little extra range in a pinch, but I won't push that here. The only reason I'd advocate stacking penalties is because its canon and eve works well. We shouldnt shy away from eve style handling of modules when dust is sorta broken and eve is sorta not..

or

Buffing range extenders without a cap on the inner circle will completely negate certain CQC play styles, that is why they were nerfed when EWAR circles were added in the first place.
They shouldn't be buffed unless they can only benefit the medium and long ranges.

The inner circle benefits the least little compared to medium and long ranges. With with max skills, the base ranges of all light, medium, as well as basic heavies are: 7.5m close, 22.5m medium, and 30m far.
Assuming a complex range amp gives 35%, here's what stacking them would do for close range: 0)7.5m 1)10.1m 2)13.2m 3)15.8m By the 3rd amp, the close ring range will have grown by +8.3m.
What do you guys think about that?

The problem is that the short range becomes to large. You basically can't approach an Amarr scout with 2 precision mods, even if you put 4 dampeners on a gal scout. That's why CCP hammer nerfed range amplifiers and made them useless. The solution is to have different bonuses on different ranges, for example : pro range amplifier : short +15% medium +25% long +35% |

Solution: Fix inner ring at X meters (say 5m - 7.5m). Set Range Extenders to extend middle and outer rings.
Shoot scout with yes.

Anyway I see your point and yeah, it would be best if the short range didn't get the full benefit of the range amps.
Adipem Nothi's solution of having a fixed inner ring range and have range amps only work on medium and long range would also work.
