Where do I go to have matches with other players who also want to take it easy and not try so hard? |

I have always played DUST solo.
I have literally never run in a squad. It's just how I prefer to play.
I enjoy it. Yeah, I am sure my K/DR would be much better if I did, and yes, it is frustrating to get into 2v1 or 3v1 etc gunfights but I accept that as the price of my lone wolfery.
But as a result, I am a very aware player since no one's watching my back and pretty damn good in a gun fight.
TL:DR DUST can be fun solo if you accept the tradeoffs

According to certain Dust players, this is a team based game, and us solo players have no place in this game.
Plus, apparently if we join a squad, we are automatically imbued with magical fantastical powers that will allow us to take on anyone regardless of our respective skill levels, lifetime SP, or actual effort at teamwork.
TL;DR Squading supposedly solves everything.

Breach scrambler pistol is a great sidearm, particularly after investing some SP into it. It may not have the range of a Bolt pistol, but it performs admirably in its niche. I've used it almost exclusively for coming up on two years, and that headshot multiplier is nothing to scoff at. The Bolt pistol may have been very over-powered for a time, but it is nowhere near "10 times better" than the Breach ScP today.

Squading provides zero benefits if you don't actually work together.
I've seen people squad up and then all run solo without helping each other.
You all pretty much have to have mics, and all communicate effectively.
Otherwise, its no different than running solo. You just get orbitals out of it.

Well, i suggest joining An 0uter.Heaven pub chat to squad up if you need a squad, but not everyone in 0.H is in this channel
also i suggest the asian servers, where 60% of the time a single player can win a battle...last time i played asian servers all i did was scrub links from behind, drop links and knife everyone off the bridge
the other 40% of the time you find full 6-man proto-stomp squads

I think Skirmish is probably the best place to solo outside of Ambush.
You can just practice holding an outside objective. Place links around the perimeter, then use scans to keep people from getting the jump on you. If there is a supply depot nearby you can be a one man wrecking crew.
If the squad that scares you comes to your objective then you've done your job. Now the blues can theoretically take the city. Sometimes it actually works, but usually the blues have long given up by the time this opportunity presents itself. |

I once got a 2.0 K/D using nothing but Defibrilators and Smoke grenade launchers in BF3.
Then again, I had a whole clan running with me, and we were pretty badass.

You just get orbitals out of it. Not true. The main purpose in squadding is to ensure that you have people on your team who are better than the average blueberry. For example, if you had 16 solo ace players on one team, and 16 berries all in squads of 6-6-4 on the other, the team with 16 solo ace players would win, even if the berries are using mics. IMO, the result of a battle is mainly down to player skill, not communication and teamwork. Mics are also overrated. It's who you have in your squad that matters, not how you communicate.

Run it on a scout -- dual pistols are much more effective that way, in my experience, and the best mode to play is Skirmish because your targets are more spread out. |

That is a bad example Dreis.
Everyone knows that if you take 16 godly players, mute them all and have them go against a pack full of newberries with mics, you will watch the newberries get stomped.
There IS a sweet spot between skill and communication.
At the end of the day, 6 decent players running solo in a squad will get trashed by 6 decent players running together in a squad.
That is the point I'm trying to make. You might do better individually do to the better raw slaying power on the field, but you will most likely get stomped by another squad that actually knows how to work and communicate effectively.

I don't think you have to try hard to enjoy Dust.
I've recently been using an Amarr Commando with an AScR and a PLC. Hardly the FOTM, yet my KDR jumped almost to 3 and my win-to-loss ratio was at 2 for the most time. I just love the way that suit looks. And those PLC kills are a huge motivation for me.
I didn't try dual-ScPs lately, so I can't say anything about that. These days the default ScP may be better at spamming headshots though.
My personal tip for avoiding HMG sentinels is an advanced scanner. The A-19 stable one is easy to fit and makes it much easier to avoid getting shredded by HMGs. Scouts shouldn't be a problem with an ScP. |
