As long as it is a 2.5" sata drive, any will work. I used the samsung evo 840, and it works beautifully. |

not sure about sony conditions of use and CCP EULA, but admitting to running an SSD might have consequences.

Because you thought using an ssd was considered cheating, why would the ps3 have a port just for adding other hdds and sds? And why would sony make videos specifically on how to and why you should upgrade to an ssd, furthermore why would ccp advise you to upgrade to an ssd to fix certain game issues, think before you talk bluedot, block from me |

Just go with any cheap version of the size you want. You can even go with a hybrid drive if you feel the need to have a huge amount of memory.
The PS3 only has a SATA I port which is no where near capable of maxing out the speeds of even a low end SSD.
SSDs are not necessarily made for the kind of use that comes from a PS3 so you are going to wear it out quickly anyway. Even a cheap one will still last longer than your PS3 at this point tho. Probably even survive along into a PS4. |

i've had a cheap 64gb sandisk for well over a year, no problems and really helps with load times.
only backwards step with the ps4 is having a HDD again.

One of my italian friend has recently move to NY, he bought another PS3, i don't think with SSD. Yesterday in gallente lag city, the game was smooth for him, while the rest of our squad was dropping at power point level.
I don't think you need a SSD to improve framerate, but it's up to you how to spend your money, i just tell you what it happened.

If I pull a SSD Drive out of my computer with Windows on it does that matter? Will it still work fine in my PS3?

Recommend Seagate Momentus XT 750GB Hybrid drive. (Quite old now, so you can probably snag one cheaply) |

Since we're in this topic, ive never put an ssd in my ps3. I have one of the slim ones with the 360gb hd, I load super fast and usually deploy before anyone else. I almost always see the warbarge even in pubs. Are some ps3s just better right from the factory? Would putting an ssd in gain me anything if I'm already loading fast? Fyi, I'm usually that mk.o scout running links in on a pc battle
