Thanks OP for the guide. I personally had no experience with FPS before this other than messing around on my brother in-laws xbox playing halo on easy cause I liked the story
Dust was the first one I took seriously and learned a lot of that stuff the hard way. I agree with cat merc that if I didn't know the maps and feel of the battles I would suck much more cause I don't have the gun game for a straight up 1vrs1.
But I do say in match "let's head to D cause it's been to quite and just as I get there someone starts to hack, or now they will push over here next" which allows me to out maneuver and flank which makes up for my gun game

If you're watching a line of players, let's say there are two of them, running from left to right across your screen. You want to shoot first at the leftmost one -- the one trailing -- in hopes you'll be able to pick him off before the guy in front knows what is happening. If you shoot the one in front, the guy behind him will almost certainly see it happen and turn his attention to you. Whereas if you pick them off from back to front, you stand a good chance of getting them both.
Moving past that....
One of the things I really struggle with, and I see many people struggle with, is the "flight or fight" reaction. Said more directly, I struggle with thinking I'm much better than I really am and as a result get into fights I shouldn't. When I dial back my aggressiveness, I end up dying less AND killing more....the latter being rather counterintuitive.
For me, however, the biggest improvement I made in Dust as a slayer was when I dedicated myself to becoming good with sidearms, and balancing my primary weapon (armor-biased ARR in my case) with a complimentary sidearm (shield-biased ScP).
Hope this helps....Lead I have the same problem...
Since I epically sucked when I started I had damn near a negative KD which has risen to an amazing 1.2 I have gotten a lot better but I am far too aggressive in part because I run cheap stuff and I have a crappy KD anyway and I'm just having fun. So when a squad mates like "heavy on C!" (Note: got no mic) I run past him and charge the heavy and 3 out 4 I get him if he's alone but the point is I don't care if I die, I gonna try
Did an experiment though were I took a step back and played a little more conservatively for a week and got my weekly KD to almost 3

Everyone is new to FPSes at one point or another, hence why you see bad players in literally every game, every day. You've been an absolute humorless jackass these last few months running solid, I think you need a good, long break. Or maybe he needs a stiff drink and/or laid
