i seem to be playing this game .25-.50 seconds in the past. not a big deal online gaming has always been like this for me.
i can usually "feel" what damage i should be doing, there is a short delay between me shooting somone and them taking damage, then i can stop shooting early and wait for the +50..
just wondering if anyone has any tips.
its most noticable with ass scr, cr or hmg.

Try shooting where they will be after 0.5 seconds, if you're adsing. Remember, hipfire is your friend. Also, act like you have 200 ehp less than you actually do.

Reduce the size of Dust to native(when the image isn't enlarged) using your options in game.
Enable Video Game mode on your TV.
Make sure your connection is as good as possible (ethernet if possible). Make sure no one else is using it when you play.
Delete all channels and in game mail.

Well, there is little to nothing you can do when the lag hammer hits you. Lag does limit skills:
If you are a good player, lag makes you a bad player.
If you are elite, lag makes you an average player.
If you are an FPS genius, lag makes you a good player.
Dust uses a central server which constantly communicate with your console: in general, the faster you communicate, the better the experience. Now, what you see on screen and what is actually happening according to the server are two totally different scenarios: let's take a strafing enemy as an example.
You are shooting at an enemy, a big huge Amarr Sentinel who is being so kind not to wipe you out: he'll just strafe left and right.
He has (ideally) 0 ms latency toward the battle server, you have 150-200 ms, so you are also receiving informations with 150-200 ms delay. You will obviously see where the sentinel was 200 ms ago and you won't be able to deal the damage you are expecting. In other words, your shots will miss, let's say, 30% of the times simply because where you are shooting at is not where the sentinel actually is! Let's invert the situation, instead: you are the guy with (ideally) 0 ms and the Sentinel is the guy with 200 ms: you will clearly see what's happening according to the server, and you are interacting with it with no delay! This means that what you are seeing and the actions you are taking are exactly the actions the server is seeing. You'll see exactly where the enemy is and if you are aiming well, you'll hit 100% of the times, while the poor guy will shoot where you were 200 ms before.
That said, there's really almost nothing to do to improve your game experience: get better internet connection is the best advice I can give you, then you can try playing when your line doesn't have many people connected. Wired connection directly to your modem/router, Upnp, port forwarding may also help a bit, but don't expect miracles.

ok so ive been deleting alot of junk and fiddlijg with different setting. i put texture and detail low and reduced the scale to minimum, and oh my god, motion blur happened! it was like i was drunk (or drunk-er) i tried it for a bit of novelty then changed my setting back and it still does the motion blur.
i reset defualts and rebooted and its better, but now i think im just noticing it all the time... am i trippin? i never noticed it before.

That feeling when being the last man standing in an ambush cooking a core locus nade, lands it right in the enemy clones lap and watch it do zero damage. Lag > skill.
