Current controller button configurations do not allow the player to move from side to side while sprinting. Currently the only direction one can sprint is forward while using a controller. This is because the move button and the sprint button are both associated with the L3 or R3 analog stick on the controller. This is the same on all of the other controller settings as well. I.E. "Duty calls", "South paw".
What I would like to request is a button mapping option for the controller that does not require you to click down on an analog stick in order to sprint. The sprint button should be moved to the L1 or L2 button please. This way players can hold down sprint and freely move around in all directions while sprinting, JUST LIKE PC PLAYER DO - correct me if you think i'm wrong.

I don't play with M&K so I can't comment on the behavior you're describing that they're capable of. Are you effectively saying you want to be able to strafe while sprinting?

All I want is the sprint button to be relocated to L1 or L2, and If what you say is true than it will not make any diference to anyone but me, correct. |

You can't sprint and move any direction but forward on any input device under any control scheme.
Anyone trying to tell you otherwise has no idea what they're talking about

Well that's fine, but as Thundergroove put, I would still restrict sprinting to forward movement only, no lateral movement while sprinting.

Its a simple button mapping. I think you are afraid of what would happen ! |

Heres my point, I don't mind additional control schemes as long as it doesn't allow a player to do something they would otherwise be unable to do with a different control scheme.

How would any control scheme allow a player to do something they should not be able to do. Do the current control schemes that we have now do this ? Answer - No, Then why would one button remap, be able to break the game.
You PC guy are very good. A New button remap for the controller will help myself and many new comers be more competitive.
I do not hate PC. I am even thinking about buying a new system to run games on for my self. However I will still wish to map a controller to it so that I am able to play on my big screen, in my living room, on my sofa. |

I don't want to come off as rude, but how would a control scheme I've never seen in any other game be more comfortable and a good use of development time?
I've been using the default control scheme since I got my beta key way back and zero complaints. I think this may be one of the things where you're just going to have to just deal with it. Maybe in the future if they plan on redoing the control schemes and whatnot go ahead and suggest yours as it would be a much more appropriate time.
Or hell, if CCP chooses to not hardcode them and make them work through Catma, I'm sure that would be great too as there wouldn't even need to be a client update.
If you really want to keep fighting for this, all the power to you. I'm just trying to save you time banging your head against wall with few people actually listening and CCP ignoring your requests because of aforementioned reasons.

I like the idea of button mapping, but not for the reasons you do.
You can actually use your right stick to pivot back and forth while you press forward with the left, that is the best you are going to get.

Well in case you have not noticed, that is what a lot of people do on this here forum. My idea is a good one, it will help to balance the game a lot more. Also who says no one is lisening, do you speak for CCP ??? |

by the way I'd love keep fighting with you for this because the more we do the more this thread gets bumped and the more controller players will see it and realize that they are currently at a major disadvantage. |

This is a simple idea. Switch the grenade to the O button and the sprint to L2 on controller. Interact can be put to L3 or any where else. |

I would actually like the option of changing my controller layout because I want to put sprint in L2 and grenade in L3 since I don't really use grenades much and one of my controllers L3 doesn't work, so that's why I would want this.

See it is a good idea, for many different reasons. Something CCP should definitely consider in one of there updates. |
