I may have some military training but at no point did I learn to fly a bloody helicopter, in the words of M.J.Caboose: "Why are there six pedals if there are only four directions!"
Up, down, left, right. Why's something with thrusters fly like a drunk blackhawk?

Jeez Sinboto is this a troll thread???
If you can't keeep a Militia Derpship in the air, I sugest you train... LOL
These things need some adjusting to, but in no way are the mlt ones hard to fly these days. I'd even prefer they would take of the stabilizer of the Mlt derpships or at least make it switchable... |

It just needs training... I think my first 10 Derpships went up in flames in the first 15 seconds after liftoff...
These days I couldn't live without them, they are the biggest fun in the game, even though I use them for deployment mostly... |

This.
They are immense fun. I have a little experience with helicopters which helped me, but you are right - they are unique beasts!
Now, if we could just have more of a reason to fly STD ones... |

It's not that hard once you get used to it, but the easiest way to learn would be the MLT Dropships.

It's pretty easy, actually.
If you're moving at a certain speed it would behave like a jet fighter, if you're slow it will be like an helicopter.

I bought 100 assault dropships learning to fly
I finally got the hang of it after crashing about 75 of them.
Granted, I wasn't just flying around, I was attempting to actually fight with them.
SOOO much different from the BF3 chopper. I can make that sucker DANCE.

Greetings, Sinboto. I won't spend much time extrapolating on this thing called the Dropship---the subject has been beaten like old laundry all over the Forums since the Beta phase of the game. The players today have two great luxuries that previous players never had: 1- They have the MLT version dropship (it tries to help lighten your workload by "auto-straighening" the vehicle each time after you release your controller---that's the ONLY assistance it gives you).
2- They have the ADS vehicle, which gives a terrific bonus of quick responsive propulsion, that leaves standard dropships in the dust, and easily pursues Transport-dropships if they try to flee.
...The combination of these two leads a lot of players to lampoon you and suggest that you're inadequate as a dropship student. RUBBUSHGǪdon't let anyone convince you that dropships are easy to operate. They were always meant to be a less-important backstage player in the game, but got romantaized way too much by us (yep, me too) aerial dreamers.
If you only want to flit around quickly and attack ground targets, it's the least-demanding role of dropships--and the MLT and ADS craft will soon have you feeling you're tall---as many posters in this thread reveal in their "it's quite easy when you get used to it!" comments.
If you want to transport personnel and retrieve them, and coordinate with requests from your squad leader---it takes fine-touch knowhow, quick-reverse skills in tight spaces, and requires a TON of anti-colision and anti over-reaction when under fire, to keep a squad of players confident they can rely on you, and you won't bonk and cost them their clone lives.
ADS is fun and cool, because you're solo and you can always "scram your copter out at the first sign of attack".
"TRANSPORT" is the high-workload thing that prevents any Vet from ever telling you "a dropship is easy to fly once you know how".

It IS awful how a member can be "framed" like that. I want my Gallente legal staff to have a look at the recording of my statement. And don't forget, we Gallente have the Black Eagles to help make "such unconfirmed documents" mysteriously disappear!

I'd like to see you try to fly with a MKB!
My first and only two attempts resulted in a total of 8 seconds flying time and two destroyed dropships. The second death resulted in my launching my clone half way across the map.

Dropships are fundamentally different from Helicopters, in the fact that they maintain momentum horizontally.
In other words, until you push it the opposite direction, it will continue.
Where a BlackHawk/Apache would continually tilt to 45 degrees to hit max speed, and then stay there to maintain, a dropship only need to hold 45 degrees until they hit their target speed, then they can level out completely and will continue moving until they push somewhere else.
Only when you figure THAT out, will you actually become really, really good.

I remember the good old beta days when DS flying was easy. As soon as Uprising hit I crashed my remaining DSs and didn't fly for a year. After that I bought 1mil worth of Militia DSs and forced myself to learn to fly. I can now pilot support DSs but aiming ADSs i suck.
