Kinetic Catalyzers are a Gallente module and are often overlooked in favor of plates and armor repairers. Though Kinetic Catalyzers allow the Gallente to excel in CQC even more than the Minmatar.
First let us cover why the Kinetic Catalyzer is an important module outside of just Shotgun scouts and Nova Knife scouts.
Benefits:
- Allows units to get into cover faster
- Allows for more efficient and reliable escapes
- Enhances the ability to catch higher speed units who may otherwise survive to fight another day
- Allows units to arrive at objectives faster, which makes it easier to attack and defend points by adding a level of surprise
- Enhances the ability of units to flank
That's a lot of benefits and they will help the Gallente Assault in every gamemode, but will be most noticeable in its non combat roles in Skirmish where you often have to cross the map in increasing rapidity to either capture or defend an objective.
So how should we fit the Kinetic Catalyzer?
A general rule is that the Catalyzer should at the same tier or a greater tier than the highest tier plate you are running. If you're running a militia armor plate then a militia Kinetic Catalyzer and up is acceptable. If you are running an enhanced plate then an enhanced or Complex Kinetic Catalyzer is acceptable.
As a Gallente Assault you shouldn't be using more than one regular plate. I say this because you will be overtly penalized in CQC and will consistently left to die in the open. If you want to armor tank then use the Amarr Assault because it is a great suit for that with its high CPU, PG and stamina. As a Gallente Assault you should place an emphasis on armor repairers, reactive plates and Ferroscale with one regular plate to give you decentcsurvivability against Nova Knives, shotguns, HMG's, Scrambler Rifles, Bolt Pistols, explosives and any other weapon that destroys low HP dropsuits in CQC.
For the sake of applicability I will use the Gallente advanced Assault since that is the suit that most dedicated Gallente Assaults will use most frequently.
So you have two highs and four lows.
Let's start with the lows: let's add our regular armor plate. Because we don't want to be too slow we will equip an Enhaced Armor Plate instead of a complex armor plate.
As a Gallente Assault you will be most versatile and at home using high reppers. My reccomendation is to use at least two reppers and I will count reactive plates as reppers. Two Enhaced Armor Repairers should be perfect, but swapping out a repairer for a ferroscale for fighting lighter units or a reactive plate for more frequent high DPS exchanges is good too.
The Catalyzer can be Enhaced or Complex and I would recommend the Complex one if you can, but if you find yourself constantly outnumbered then you should switch to the Enhaced because if you find yourself outnumbered often it means you are misusing your speed
*If you're very objective based then you should consider using a code breaker for objective gamemodes. Trust me when I say it will help massively while taking objectives before enemies can be respawn or for quickly stopping enemy spawns.
Your high modules should reflect your mastery at Gallente Assault. If you are new you will consistently run into bad engagements where you will be at extreme disadvantages against players with anti armor weapons. - For new players I reccomend shield modules which will be more forgiving in these moments.
As for experienced players I reccomend damage mods to maximize your flanking and to quickly down equipment before they can return fire.
I have more information to come.

And then a min scout on drugs runs in with an 11/m per second sprint speed and slashes you all to death and leaves the room
That scout you see on the kill board with 20 kills and 15 deaths

Playstyle:
Alright, so you have the suit and the fitting concept, but now you need to know how to play it.
Let's look at your general attributes:
- Regular Stamina
- Regular Stamina Recovery
- Slightly less than ideal walking speed
- Wicked fast sprint speed
- Medium to high armor repairing speed
- Medium armor
&
- Either medium shields or damage mods
Since your strafe speed is nothing special and you don't have high armor standing in the open isn't ideal.
So we should run everywhere?
Not necessarily. This is where many people fail using this fit. You need to ration your speed. Remember you are not an Amarr suit nor a Minmatar suit! You don't have a large pool of stamina nor high stamina recovery!
Understanding the Gallente biotic game:
- With an Amarr dropsuits you can think of yourself as a distance runner. You can run everywhere and will only have to stop to rest after a while.
- With the Minmatar dropsuits you can think of yourself as a Basketball player. You sprint short distances and recover quickly after just a moment of stopping.
- With the Gallente you can think of yourself as an American Football player (appropriate given their and your armor) or a Forward in Soccer. Or even a sprinter in track.
What do those illusions imply though? Basically what I'm trying to say is that you can sprint wicked fast for short distances though it is for a short time and after you lose your Stamina you will have to make sure you don't need it soon because it will be a while until it's back. [That is key to using Kinetic Catalyzers!/b]
[b]So how do we actually use Kinetic Catalyzers to our advantage!
Ok, so as an example we will say you are assaulting a null cannon while trying to capture it.
Now you could run in there while depleting all of your Stamina and get left to the mercy of players defending who still have stamina and greater ranged weapons...
Or
You can use tactics to your benefit:
- Sprint up to cover near or in the socket. What you need to remember is to not use up all of your Stamina trying to get to that cover. You should look to Dave at least 20-30% of your Stamina at all times in case you get out maneuvered and need to take evasive action.
-The best way is to not use it until your situation matches any of the following criteria
- You are in immediate danger
- You have to cross a large distance over ground between friendly objectives
- You need to retreat
- You have been scanned
-If you are assaulting an enemy objective you should try to get as close as possible (I.E before you are spotted, scanned) before sprinting.
What if I must cross a large space across enemy or enemy/friendly territory?
- Sprint from cover to cover while leaving between 20-30% of stamina in reserves at all times!
*A classic new player move is to stand still while waiting for stamina to recover. That is a bad idea! You make yourself an easy target for snipers, shotgunners, vehicles, Nova Knifers, Plasma Cannons and Scrambler Rifle users. -To make walking from cover to cover possible you will need to remember what is safe cover.
Safe Cover(Static Cover):
- Large Buildings
- Large rocks
- Doorways
- Walls taller than your merc
- Wide ramps such as those on the Caldari Research Facility
- Stairwells
The following cover should be used only for combat(Dynamic)
- Supply Depots
- Turrets
- Vehicles
- Crates
- Waist high barriers
- Small rocks
- Railings
If you still have any questions on what designates dynamic vs static cover use this reference: -If there is enough space for you to move away from a Core Locus Grenade without taking yourself out of cover, then you are behind static cover. If you have to expose yourself to avoid the explosion then it is dynamic cover.
Incomplete.
