I would like to make a recommendation to how you should do these types of events. I am not sure how hard 5 million will be but what if we end up with 3 million, 4 million? or some other close amount. Instead of saying it is all or nothing, take what you are thinking and tier with increasing rewards to keep people going for more. At each milestone, give players something at the end of the event based on which tier the player based reached.
Example. Reward tiers:
- Kill 1 Million Clones: x250 Warbarge Components
- Kill 2 Million Clones: x10 Decryptor Keys
- Kill 3 Million Clones: x250 Warbarge Components
- Kill 4 Million Clones: x500 Warbarge Components + x10 Decryptor Keys
- Kill 5 Million Clones: x1 Event BPO
- Each Additional 500k kills: x100 Warbarge Components + x5 Decryptor Keys
This gives a feeling of reward at each progress level and there would far less disappointment if an event would ever fail.

Frame asked us if 5 million was too much and the CPM were more than confident that the community could pull it off no problem. 62500 ambush matches? reallly? that's considered reasonable around here? 5-10 minutes a piece with 5 days and multiple matches. Unless I did my math wrong (Highly likely at the moment) that's 90.5 games a day if it was 1 game running at a time. We hit 2 million in 2 days way back. Follow the twitter, you'll be surprised I just dont believe there's that many people playing dust and there sure as **** aren't with this 4 hour downtime going on right now. We better get extra time added on for all the server maint if we aren't close to the goal. I've been playing dust for a week and haven't seen the downtime be anywhere near 30 minutes for the whole time. CCP takes efforts to make sure things run smoothly. It's a free game and if we need a 4 hour downtime to fix bugs and add things, so be it. They extend events if there are issues, and they do their best. Have patience and suit up: 17,000-34,000 players have been on at the same time, that's 30-50 deaths each for the goal. Since K/D is over-rated, I have no problems getting 200 deaths for the community. Just watch: 1-2 problems will arise, but the event will succeed one way or another
FYI, the 17,000-34,000 is incorrect, that number includes eve pilots. CCP made that change a while back from displaying online dust players to all players on the server. I believe the assumption was that it was looking bad with only 2-3k players online during peak hours, so the past dev team changed it. If you want more details on how many players are getting on at once, I suggest looking here http://eve-offline.net/?server=dust
