I play Planetside and other FPS style MMOFPS with my gaming syndicate. The only thing that makes a large assault group manageable is the ability to have clear, concise communications. Push-to-talk let us run 90 man platoons without everyone stepping all over each other and it's needed functionality in DUST.
Please consider implementing it.

This one is sick for the money especially if you are used to stereo surround sound on the PC Im picky as hell when it comes to headsets because Ive done the majority of my gaming on PC and that's what us shooter PC players rely on is hearing footsteps etc...
The sound accuracy in Dust compared to say killzone and COD is outstanding! Its hard to tell left to right on other shooters and for some reason its clear as day on Dust, I can actually hear which way someone is coming at me on point as im hacking gives me enough time to turn around and defend... |

As much as i wanna see PTT and would love having it there, gotta ask: where ya gonna put the "nuke it from orbit" button?
iwillrock: i heard standard cans like logitech work well for $15-$20, course if you can plop $50ish on one the Turtle Beach P11(what i use) has great sound quality, as well as a seperate chat volume control that lets you hear command above all the explosions. |

Yes, and a mute button for guys who have loud wife/weird music in the background or seem to keep fondling their mic for some reason.
And so far the quality of the sound has been rathe good, espescially seeing I have a very crappy bluetooth headset. But then again, not many people have it actually switched on so the load on that part of the server/client must be pretty light. |

+1 for PTT.
Wouldn't be able to manage our comms on TS (for EVE) without it. DUST should include this. |

agree. I often make off-hand comments about getting badly pwnd in some ridiculous fashion, like today when I got sniped by a heavy I was going to snipe from half a km away... I'm sure the rest of the team doesn't really need to hear it, though they may or may not find it amusing. |

Too many hot mic's that can't be controlled. When I adjust my imput so it's not so hot, I'm barely heard or not heard at all. Turn it up a notch and people can hear me firing my gun. That is pretty tolerable and I can deal w/ it. It's hearing other players talk to whoever is in the room w/ them and it just sounds like a one sided conversation or you hear the other person actually talking. Is very distracting. |

Obligatory +1, and a mute button to go with it.
If I have to listen to some sh*tty rap music while I am waiting to ambush some poor newb with my HMG ONE MORE TIME, I will snap. |

nuke it from orbit can be part of the right directional button menu.

also signed,
there was also one guy who simply refused to turn down his mic sensitivity so i heard all kind of crap in the background. I asked politely, he said no. so i garbled my laptop started playing the infinite look pokemon theme tune and placed my headset on the speaker.
he makes me listen to crap and makes my ears bleed, i do the same. |

i'va actually used the sound of guns from other people's mics to help co-ordinate - when you can hear it on comms and on the game itself, you can locate the person talking to you... but that really only works if everyone with comms that sensitive don't have a lot of noise in the background. also, FFS, get a mic with a mute button.. the standard PS3 mic has one, comes through with the absolute best quality i've ever heard, cept on a wired headset, but who wants that? |

While it would make things more manageable, I prefer being able to talk without having to push a certain button. Also without PTT it makes communications faster, even if its just by a second or so. That rocket that is incoming won't wait to hit your vehicle while you fumble for button on the d-pad (no other place to put it) in order to tell the driver to back up. |

Noise cancellation should be mandatory. I don't want to hear your PS3 fan, or your gun firing.
Nor, I expect, do other people want to hear me swearing when I die :) |

Option of PTT would be nice. Not something that should HAVE to be done. At the same time, ability to mute would be nice as well. |

I'll support this if this is an optional feature. Sometimes my thumbs and fingers are too busy to deal with a PTT button when I need to call something out. |

IMO it should be mandaroty on, allways. No sense in mics allways open.
We kick these people out of comms regulary in eve. They only mess coms and that mess is greater than any benefic that might come from an open mic.
I lost count of the times i had to place my tv on mute because of that nonsense on others mics.
Also, thanks all for the headset sugestions. |
