This seemed to work for me:
1. In your Neocom, go to the System Operation Tab 2. Go to options 3. Press R2 once to go to the video tab 4. Lower your Screen Scale to 0
I was reading online how lowering the native resolution of games on PC could increase performance. I thought to myself, "I wonder if Dust has a similar option?" Then I remembered, it does. After doing this, the first match I played ran very smooth, no hiccups or jitters in the frame rate. I could actually aim and shoot at people in firefights. The next 2 matches I played, were also smooth. I was finally getting 25-30 FPS.
I am happy to say that I will begin playing this game again. Although the only drawback of using this option is that enemies are harder to see the farther away they are from you. I would also like to mention that you have to be sitting about an arms length away from your T.V, to compensate for the new small game resolution.
If you are having frame rate issues, I encourage you to try this. Please post your feedback, I want to know if this helps you not lag anymore, or if it makes the lag worse. |

Edit:
Not really enthusiastic. It is a bit better, yes. But if you pay attention you still see the framerate drops constantly as usual. It may be just a bit of suggestion and the smaller size of the screen that does not allow you to perceive framerate.
Now, the thing that actually works is playing at 480p, but, seriously.....it's simply ugly. I have not considered running the game in 480p. Next chance I get I will test this out. Thanks for the advice. I find it interesting that making the screen smaller makes it more difficult to see frame rate drops. I wonder if this isn't a fix at all and just a placebo affect?

After playing 3 or so matches in 480p, here is what I can conclude.
Yes, the game runs even faster than before, but at the cost of image clarity. After the third match my eyes were starting to strain as I was searching through the pixels to find the opposing team. Around 40(?) or so meters in front of you it becomes difficult to tell what you are looking at. Very smooth performance, yet headache inducing. Also I would like to mention, the GUI is really messed up, I had to fine tune the screen scale (I had to set the screen scale to 74) just to get everything to "fit in" right. Another side note, the kill feed, your HP circle, along with the mini map take up large portions of the screen and inhibit your ability to spot enemies from the corner of your screen.
Final Conclusions: I am starting to lose all hope for this game. All I want is a stable 30 or 25 FPS... without having to take breaks every three matches because of 480p eyestrain. I guess I will continue to play this game, but I will have to put up with dying against militia gear here and there because of frame rate drops. With this said, I will continue to play in 720p, to save myself from constant headaches.
This thread can now die, thank you to everyone for posting your feedback, much appreciated. |
