If you prof out the cannon you may juuuuuuuusst get a scout w/ splash. Anyways, it's a great AV weapon to use against shield vehicles. As for use on infantry.... Only a select few can direct hit people often. Hate hitting an Amarr sentinel and leaving him with sub 200 ahp :/ worst feeling ever. Base splash on the basic PLC is 285 damage, or 313.5 against shields. That's more than enough to take down the shields of most suits or at least dent shield suits (except heavies, but then again why did you miss?). Should you miss your target, the goal would be that the splash removes their shields and you take out their armor with your SMG (or other armor damaging sidearm). The difference between this and the MD is that the MD does lower damage over a wider area with more shots over time, whereas the PLC is an alpha weapon (one big shot at a time). Dust is there! Cal and min scouts will melt immediately if they're caught within the splash of even my std Plc. Granted, that's on a Galmando with maxed out relevant skills and a damage mod mod. It's a counter to a specific type of threat, don't try and engage infantry with a Plc unless you have God-like aim. Dedicated Commando. "He who can destroy a thing, controls a thing."

Anywho, the splash on the PLC is hellish, don't knock it, but the main attraction is the OHK direct-hit. Only shmucks try to go for the splash deliberately. "You see those red dots over there? Don't listen to the guy who uses them rather frequently. What do I know, right?
