Maybe compromise could be reached as those who wanted 'normal' military rank titles now have loyalty ranks, but those who wanted more racially themed stuff could have something like the old lists that some of us worked on. Republic Draugr & Vaettr should be a thing, As should Federation Erinyes / Hecatonchire. I mean look at the newest released minmatar ship, the Svipul. https://twitter.com/EveOnline/status/557571211635736576
There's is that issue with t the races that you could argue legitimately that half a dozen languages adequately represent the people.
E.g- Amarr = Latin, certain arabic languages (apparently examples of similar script is used), castillian-spanish, judeo-spanish, etc.

The last thread got pretty vicious though.
What about Federal Tom? I thought my cat themed list was way better!

The Amarr are more likely to be flowery with their ranks. Sadly no http:// https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/24th_Imperial_Crusade_(NPC_corporation)#Ranks PIE has better names
Within the organisation of PIE our actual ranks are pretty tame and follow a really standard ranking system.
Within PCLAS we use things like Tiro, Miles, Classiarii, Templares, Palatinus, Legate etc.
But for the in game ranks I don't think we need to.
The issue I have with Amarrian names is past a certain point they sound far to garish.
Things like (and this is no particular order and old as suggestions for inspirations)
1- Knight-Errant 2- Vigilant 3- Revered Champion 4- Templar Commander 5- Arch Chaplain 6- ____________ 7- High Deacon 8- Divine Captain 9- ____________ 10- Ecclessiarch

There's a very nasty / irreconcilable division between people who want **** based on RL, and people who want things based on the actual races, cultures and naming conventions within them. I see both sides, but I disagree with the modern military ranks because they have 'responsibility' that our characters don't have. We're essentially elite irregulars that fall outside the conventional military structure. I don't want to get into these arguments again though, so I'd be pretty content to have the whole idea die in a fire, no one will get what they 'want' without the other side being pretty pissed about it. I'm with you on wanting lore based ones from the cultures. But firstly we'd never agree on the cultural root languages and specific dialects, secondly I'd suggest they'd simply not be practical in the middle of combat especially when current existing examples serve well enough already.

Would it make you feel better to know that it's based on a visual novel, and that THAT was supposed to happen as it was a 'false ending' that prompts the protagonist to do some time-travel stuff to collect 'memory fragments' in order to get the actual good end where everyone lives and is happy?
I want play.
Much better than depressing story about the people you love dying.....especially with really emotive characters.

If I recall correctly I was very pleased to see a spread sheet in which CCP Rattati himself was listing potential names for Amarrian things and they were not entirely composed latin compositions torn out of Roman history.

Songs of Seraphim wrote:Can Level 10 Caldari standings be Fleet Admiral?
Since... You know... Caldari Navy... Fleet Admiral is the highest rank (and only attained in time of war, otherwise it's simply Admiral).
You are not State Military...not officially anyway.....and have no jurisdiction over the Capsuleers who actually privateer for the Caldari. To try and assert you do would be met with a great deal of laughter and many insults.
You also need to be in the Navy to be an Admiral......you are an infantryman.

I thought the Gallente ranks required more of a French influence. My revisions are in italics enveloped by parentheses. The rank list we suggested was heavily inspired by lore precedents - similar names are found throughout the lore. Half of them sound dull. I wanted to make them more interesting.
In hind sight there is a fine line between 'interesting' and 'too interesting you miss the point'.
