I wanted to see names based off of respective racial languages, but I've since given up on it, too much fighting. Maybe compromise could be reached as those who wanted 'normal' military rank titles now have loyalty ranks, but those who wanted more racially themed stuff could have something like the old lists that some of us worked on.
Republic Draugr & Vaettr should be a thing, As should Federation Erinyes / Hecatonchire.

That's the problem. There's a very nasty / irreconcilable division between people who want **** based on RL, and people who want things based on the actual races, cultures and naming conventions within them.
I see both sides, but I disagree with the modern military ranks because they have 'responsibility' that our characters don't have. We're essentially elite irregulars that fall outside the conventional military structure.
I don't want to get into these arguments again though, so I'd be pretty content to have the whole idea die in a fire, no one will get what they 'want' without the other side being pretty pissed about it.

Would it make you feel better to know that it's based on a visual novel, and that THAT was supposed to happen as it was a 'false ending' that prompts the protagonist to do some time-travel stuff to collect 'memory fragments' in order to get the actual good end where everyone lives and is happy?

I want play. Much better than depressing story about the people you love dying.....especially with really emotive characters.
VN's are a hell of a thing, some of them have some amazing gameplay.
