Using marine corps rank structure:
1. Private
2. Lance Corporal
3. Sergeant
4. Gunnery Sergeant
5. Lieutenant
6. Captain
7. Major
8. Colonel
9. General
10. Commandant
EDIT: Basing it on Marine Corps ranks is what I meant.

Look up Commandant of the Marine Corps. I was in the Marines, I wouldn't lead you astray on rank structure.

I suppose technically Commandant of the Marine Corps is a billet not a rank, but still, it will do. I can give you more ranks if you wish.

Enlisted Ranks from lowest to highest
E-1: Private
E-2: Private First Class
E-3: Lance Corporal
E-4: Corporal
E-5: Sergeant
E-6: Staff Sergeant
E-7: Gunnery Sergeant
E-8: Master Sergeant, First Sergeant
E-9: Master Gunnery Sergeant, Sergeant Major
Officer ranks from lowest to highest
O-1: 2nd Lieutenant
O-2: 1st Lieutenant
O-3: Captain
O-4: Major
O-5: Lieutenant Colonel
O-6: Colonel
O-7: Brigadier General
O-8: Major General
O-9: Lieutenant General
O-10: General
Now as far as Gallente go, they are heavily influenced by Greek culture, with ship names like Helios, Nemesis, and Kronos. So look into ancient Greek rank structure. Here is a link that has some Greek ranks listed on it for some inspiration.

I know, but Gallente are closest in terms of modern America, so it would ake sense for them to have some modern ranks. Not al, but some. The Amarr are more likely to be flowery with their ranks.

Since... You know... Caldari Navy... Fleet Admiral is the highest rank (and only attained in time of war, otherwise it's simply Admiral). Indeed. We are not a part of the official militaries of the factions we fight for anymore than Blackwater is a part of the US military. We don't gain any actual authority as we rank up.
That said, the ranks should be somewhat based off of actual rank structure to let people know who is nrew and who has been fighting for awhile. Something more descriptive than Templar or Zealot. We need ranks that easily identify someone as veteran or fresh meat.
Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind.
