I don't join squads. I just join Skirmish and have a good time. There's an issue though and that issue is that matches are more unbalanced now than ever before.
There's literally the perfect stomp storm now where a team can be left unable to hold a flag for more than ten seconds. Permanent scans, heavies that are unkillable by new players, Assaults that one shot all militia grade medium suits, people that rely only on core Locus Grenades, LAV heavies, Dropships that follow you around only a few feet above your head.
Frankly I'm tired of it. I can still capture a null point by myself but I'm only one mercenary. The second I capture one null cannon there's another one that got hacked. The new players simply aren't aware enough to be put in matches.with players who have been here more than a year.
Many of you will tell me to just join a squad. You people don't understand. If I do that then I will simply become part of the problem. If I join a squad then I will simply be making the game easy for myself and be making the game unbearable for others. At least by staying solo I can help teams that would otherwise never have an opportunity to capture a point.
The unfortunate truth is that matchmaking is not the answer. Simply put, even if Dust 514 had perfect matchmaking it would still be worthless because there are not enough players.
At the end of the day people will continue to be put in terrible matches because there are small pools of people with similar connections. That's just the way it is.
If I joined the game as a new player today, I would never play more than one match.
This is just my opinion of Dust and why many new players don't stick around.

The established community makes it hard because their "screw the new guys" attitude assumes that there will always be new guys to challenge and that some will become veterans. The harder the veteran community tries to push this mindset the shorter the life of the game gets.

I have similar issues to the OP but no solutions
I started having the "pretend it is a game of football" attitude a few weeks ago I treasure the really rare games that are close and there are lots of people that on both teams that care about objectives However in many games of dom there is only one person on the enemy charging the objective by themselves, I am going to send them money in future.
Squads don't appeal to me either, they seem to be raise KDR focused rather than objective focused and usually the game is about objectives as opposed to one side getting cloned.
For most games It becomes very clear that one side is going to win usually by about 20% of the way through sometimes 10%, Sometimes 50% and rarely 75% |

So, you are implying, you're willing to look up a list of players, find out who just started playing, and recruit all of them to said Corp within 1-2 games out of the training ground?
If not, you knew your suggestion was utter nonsense, and posted it anyway in an attempt to get a negatory answer, of which you then ridiculed?

I actually go to the academy and teach on team chat. I recruit anyone that wants to learn. I fund skill books and streamline skill progression. Search Darken-Sol. You will find tons of threads that are aimed directly at new players and struggling players. The wolves have on average 40-80 million sp and offer training in any area you wish to learn. I could use a little help lookin out for the little guys. Deadlyaztec has experience and some wits but would rather complain than do anything about it. |

I'm not talking about supporting a select few players. I'm talking about having a game that is reasonable for players to join and play without getting obliterated the first dozen or so matches.
Yes, helping players who want help is good but it's only a few players.

That is their problem, old dogs change sometimes, I'm just sayin' there is never a thing as a fair fight.

The thing is Dust is only for a few select players. I am the only person in my real life circle of friends that still plays. The majority of fps are run gun die spawn run gun die. I see the mentality in stomps all day every day.
I think reaching the veteran playerbase is futile. Their feeling on the matter is clear. Have proto must use. I got stomped now it's my turn. If you couple that with CCP batching every patch in uprising new players are lost and preyed upon. Most never see the forums. Tons are told to join learning coalition. I just did a bit ago as an alt. I couldn't get a squad at any time of the day. Here go wade thru outdated threads in rookie training grounds. Lazy. Apathetic. Jaded.
If half of the vets took one rookie under their wing we would see improvement. They would rather kill them as they spawn in."it's a valid tactic" |
