I don't join squads. I just join Skirmish and have a good time. There's an issue though and that issue is that matches are more unbalanced now than ever before.
There's literally the perfect stomp storm now where a team can be left unable to hold a flag for more than ten seconds. Permanent scans, heavies that are unkillable by new players, Assaults that one shot all militia grade medium suits, people that rely only on core Locus Grenades, LAV heavies, Dropships that follow you around only a few feet above your head.
Frankly I'm tired of it. I can still capture a null point by myself but I'm only one mercenary. The second I capture one null cannon there's another one that got hacked. The new players simply aren't aware enough to be put in matches.with players who have been here more than a year.
Many of you will tell me to just join a squad. You people don't understand. If I do that then I will simply become part of the problem. If I join a squad then I will simply be making the game easy for myself and be making the game unbearable for others. At least by staying solo I can help teams that would otherwise never have an opportunity to capture a point.
The unfortunate truth is that matchmaking is not the answer. Simply put, even if Dust 514 had perfect matchmaking it would still be worthless because there are not enough players.
At the end of the day people will continue to be put in terrible matches because there are small pools of people with similar connections. That's just the way it is.
If I joined the game as a new player today, I would never play more than one match.
This is just my opinion of Dust and why many new players don't stick around.

VAHZZ wrote:Fair fight? So you mean a fight the other guy could win? A fight you could lose? Don't look for fair, you need to look to win. Fair fight, pft. You ain't no merc. I'm a gamer who wanted to see Dust succeed and didn't. Now I'm bitter and am simply trying to help this game save face.
The established community makes it hard because their "screw the new guys" attitude assumes that there will always be new guys to challenge and that some will become veterans. The harder the veteran community tries to push this mindset the shorter the life of the game gets.

Someone has to be the Devil's Advocate. I don't understand why you are a troll 50% of the time and a dunce the rest of the time.

I'm not talking about supporting a select few players. I'm talking about having a game that is reasonable for players to join and play without getting obliterated the first dozen or so matches.
Yes, helping players who want help is good but it's only a few players.
For every ounce of gold you catch how many pounds fall?
It's like charity. You help a few but the vast majority still suffer. It's a bandage whenyou need staples and gauss to stop the bleeding.
