Most of the time the missile users just run up to the tank, fire one volley, run in a circle, fire again.. OR they just sit there between volleys while the rail user tries to empty a full set of shots into the missile user's face.
Either way, the rail user has to be a lot more competent and aware in order to win..
Now... if the tank is armor type? Missiles, hands down. There is nothing an armor tank can do VS missiles.
Bs. My maddy will crush any missile tank.

Do you have any skills into tanks?
Try a soma with a nitro, DMG mod, and two heavy reppers.
This will teach you how to fight. It's of the utmost importance.
you can destroy any tank if you can beat their hardeners. That's where the nitro comes in. Take a few shots then burst out of their fire path. Only another blaster will be able to track you if you are close enough. The whole time be applying damage. Watch your overheat and ammo. Also count their shots. They have overheat and ammo too. Most builds run out of steam around the time the hardeners do. Take them apart. They will die running.
Interestingly enough I was completely out of missiles one time and chased a particle cannon back to his redline with only the DMG mod active message. Tanking is being able to think and react faster than your prey.
