I am one of the strange diehards who stuck with Dust through most of its bold chrysalis stages. It is a much better (and increasingly elaborate--happy about that) game. And, as some of you have notice by a few of the posts in this thread, a substantial number of Dust players STILL don't see this game as more than just a "shoot as many players and scifi blow them up as possible" game.
Dust, like EVE-Online, is a money-management game where war gear and battlefield killing is the thing that is constantly trying to bankrupt you. We don't "win by getting the most kills"GǪ in this weird game we win by adapting to changing strategies from opponent clans in a way that allows us to constantly "build" our character's wealth and fighting-skills.
Recently the devs have introduced some cool new "loot" components to the game, and now we're getting access to LOOT through several doorways at once. That's great. We're mercenaries, ISK is vital in this game environment, and it's really nice to have access to these things after so many years of just fighting each other for KILLS-domination over other players.
But the same way too much equipment spamming leads us toward farming, and away from interests in hacking stuff and winning the battleGǪ CCP needs to be careful how much "LOOT" joy they allow us to have, or else we'll return to the disease of dancing around the matches (even FW matches) with complete neglect of "winning" and only farming for the 'salvage screen' payout...
I've already had a couple of friends tell me their FW play (which used to be about fighting for your RACE), has broken down into solo privateers just playing the FW match to explore what loot is at the end of the match---no tenacious effort to WIN anymore.
GǪPLASTTION, I suspect in a few more Updates, CCP will have to curb the salvage payouts, and rework the benefits of match-wins and FW gameplay again. We are like sheep. And if you don't keep herding us in the "right" directions, most of us don't intuitively pick up on what we're supposed to be doing, and we won't play the game in the way devs intended.
Universe of good wishes for the 49, especially CCP Eterne...
