Packed REs still don't do damage when placed onto vehicles or installations.
There is still a glitch that makes REs disappear when thrown correctly at installation consoles (when scanned, they appear as though they are deep underground, but still kill people when detonated.)
The fact that there are so many people that use them on a regular basis, and that it seems nobody else reported these issues/exploits (except for the packed REs) makes me disappointed in the dust community. I haven't brought up the activation time for a couple reasons: 1) 5 seconds is ridiculous. 2.5 is fair. 2) while falling but still alive, you can no longer hit the button despite that a) this didn't work if you were instantly killed and b) its hitting a button. Before you're immobilised. and ive gotten killed so many times by ppl who turned to see the knife and mashed the trigger as they were falling, theres no good excuse why i cant do the same with a trap that i worked hard to set. However, because this is CrybabySentinel 514, this got removed, and 2.5 seconds is ebough to ensure that if all else game logic breaks, the new rule will still be enforced. 3) 2.5 seconds is enough to make sure that if you frisbee a remote(which I don't approve of, but as grenades are broken, some ppl will do it) that you have time enough to get gunned down. After that, the remote is not a grenade, its a trap. You saw it get thrown, you killed the thrower, and they won't be back for at least 3 seconds assuming no lag(hah!) Meaning more than 5 seconds all while you know where the remote is. If youre still standing on a bomb like an idiot when theyve spawned back in, you deserve to due; srsly do you just like the taste of dirty plutonium? 4) with the cloak having a 4 second delay(whether you use it or not) before you can draw a weapon, and scanners dominated by the gallogi, the scouts need an equipment that works in a useful way, and a 5 second activation is not a useful equipment. Example: place 3 remotes on a tank and leave them for 5 seconds. They will be cleared from the tank by that point. What youre suggesting is making remotes useless for traps and useless for av.
The reason i havent reported remotes disappearing into a letter is because i havent seen that happen in iver a year and a half and i dont believe it does. I know for a fact mine never do. Sure youll see them on a scan, and when you look you wont find one, but not vecause it sank into the letter. Im not telling where i hide them for obvious reasons, but i know if im hiding my remotes, so are other people. When i die to a well hidden remote, i give props for a trap well set. I dont assume its a glitch. Sometimes i cant see a remote on the letter and i look where i would hide it and find one. Usually later on during a game where an enemy had taken a letter that i knew i had a well hidden remote on. At that point i know why my remote didnt kill them, and they deserve props twice.
Should I be disappointed that sentinels and assaults aren't reporting that the cloaks delay after deactivating still applies if its never been activated? No. I know its par for the course and with as much nerf and little love as any kind of explosives get, i feel that remotes are working just fine.
