I'm just now learning about how EVE players are able to call in earbarges to help the DUST infantry, but what information would the EVE player need in order to **** some **** up? Do I just need to tell them the location and boom, done? |

Nice to see that someone else wants the link... :/
Well, first, it has to be a PC, as far as I am aware (please correct me if I am wrong, fellow pilots). I have only ever supported my alliance, so I don't know how IFF works outside of that (I'd like to know), but they just give me a time and place, I rock up at the district and connect. I then hit F1 when they call an OB.
That is pretty much it. |

Depends where we are when we get the call to be honest. All PC takes place in Molden Heath, which is a region on the starmap. I am generally about 20 jumps away if I am not there, which in an OB fit ship takes me around 10 mins. Bear in mind though that people on the other side of the galaxy will have that time pushed up to maybe an hour or more, and through much riskier space to boot. |

It also works in Faction Warfare, but I haven't seen a Faction Warfare match in a long time.

Most OB pilots use Destroyers, including myself, so it takes a little while to get to the target area.
Part of the problem with Faction Warfare is that you have no way to select where you deploy, meaning that even if you have a friend in EVE who sets up his ship for strikes, he's most likely going to end up having to make 10+ jumps back and forth between every single match because your deploy point is a randomly selected District on the border of your chosen factions's territory.
EVE strikes are affected by damage modifiers equipped to the ship though, and a few other factors. Some people have tried to argue that but I talked to CCP Habakuk about it on the EVE test server a year or two ago and he confirmed that ship fitting has an impact on the damage you do, so an EVE pilot with a Destroyer using high-volley-damage weapons and a lot of damage modifier modules will do a TON more damage than even a Major Warbarge Laser Strike.

I should add that the advent of Tactical Destroyers may change this. The damage bonuses they receive to their weapons allows the smaller number of turrets to still put out a good deal of damage, and the Propulsion Modes tend to allow the ship to rapidly move from point to point.
That's a MUCH more expensive solution to the OB issue, but I wouldn't be surprised if some people start heading in that direction.

We don't need Eve pilots in FW anymore. This made me sad. |

No they're not. The only influence is the amount of turrets you have.

To drop OBs:
-You must be at the district where the battle is taking place. Eve pilots need to know the System, planet, and district as well as the time the battle is taking place (warbarge) and be on grid with the orbital beacon (when on grid the beacon is lit up for everyone in the system).
-The must be part of one of the corps/alliances taking part in the battle (PC; one of the corps attacking or defending, no ringers) or a participant of faction warfare (not too certain if must be part of the militia or just be enrolled in FW).
-Any ship fitted with small guns and orbital ammo (currently only laser, hybrid, and projectile can launch barrages). Typically destroyers fit the bill as the number of turrets determines the effectiveness and they are the smallest ships that can fit 8 turrets. You could theoretically drop them in a Dreadnaught, but it wouldn't be as effective because it only has three hardpoints.
-Hit F1 when prompted, don't get killed.
Also, join Tso's! We actualky regularly do and reward capsuleers for doing orbitals.
Dust is there! I was real!

One tip: - use same turret (laser - prefered) and chain them to one wolley. Pressing F1, F2... F8 not work... Your OB is calculated how much turret are stacked in single wolley.
Not much time left...
