CCP-you HAVE to make them more invisible. I am playing RIGHT now and have died 5 times just running through a field. 3 people shooting me. Any can see cloaks running in most maps. There is really.... No point in them. I am running around people and most can see me. " how do you know they can?" Well, I have 3 enhanced kincats on a gal scout, running as fast as il they can take me. I can hear at least 5 different weapons either hit me or fly by me. What's the point of cloaks now?
Make them harder to see by toning down the color of them. Make them more "invisible". This will also help with spawn camping.
By the way, what's up with warlords? My PS3 is freezing now and I just got a "fatal error-quit game" message.

In sunlight is when I died so many times.
Cloaks are fine, they make people ridiculously difficult to spot in daylight unless you adjust your TV settings to the point where it will surely reduce it's lifespan.
Them being easier to spot in darker areas is what we educated players like to call, a situational weakness. The 1st Matari Commando -HAND
- THEY ARE NOT FINE. In day light was when I died so many times. I kept trying to run around, but anyone can see me. That map was a Dom with one of those buildings that have ladders on all 4 sides.

If you died while in the sunlight, that means the people who were killing you were being attentive, which still isn't a reason as to why the Cloak Field needs a buff.
I run past some who is spawning. What do they do, find me. They still kill. They can see me. Attentive or not. HECK I've run through GROUPS of clocked scouts. And they kill me cuz I'm a lone wolf. The point is that they can see me and I can see them attentive or not. Cloaks need more invisibility.

Them being easier to spot in darker areas is what we educated players like to call, a situational weakness. So its perfectly ok that certain roles are entirely null and void just because you got Ashland on a dark map? Bullsh*t. There isn't a single map that is entirely open with no walls or structures that would negate heavies. No map that completely negates all tank and vehicle usage. No map or setting that completely negates Logi usage. No map that prevents Assaults from assaulting. Just the other day, my team was getting stomped on Ashland on a dark map. I pulled out my hacking scout, which is 200 HP, ran and hacked and gave my clones and ISK for death just to make the attempt to make the game playable and competative, and was largely ineffective because of the shimmer. I will reiterate. No other role gets completely negated by a mood, not one other. These aren't slayers you are negating, as those largely have ditched the cloak, and most of my fits no longer have them. What you are negating are legitimate roles that shouldn't be limited just because the entire map is dark.

I feel you should still be forced to be stealthy even while cloaked; the point of it isn't to be completely invisible while sprinting through open areas.
Having said that, I would like to see more variance on the amount of shimmer depending on speed. IE: The shimmer should get brighter the faster you're moving (up to the current level shimmer when moving). This would at least allow people to crouch and move slowly and stay much more shrouded than they can now.
Open area or not. It always happens to me. Someone, attentive or not sees me, day or night. The reason I posted it today and in an open area es because its RIDICULOUS the amount of times someone spotted me- from 130m + - by so many people. Only way to get close to objective was by cloak because other team had a squad of snipers and our team was pushed back to mcc/cru.

Nope. I wish I had tho. I was running knives but that had nothing to do with it. I was at least 150 m from objective. Enemy had full control of it. It's the open area map so the only way to get near the objective was to run cloak. I was to far to be scanned, yet rail rifles and scrambler rifles were shot at me many times. The problem is the shimmer. It's to bright. It needs to be toned down a bit to give more "invisibility". Of course not to the point that no one will see me, but at least to the point that someone would have to be at 40m or less to see me running.

Before you start, THERE SHOULD BE A DELAY BETWEEN BEING CLOAKED AND ATTACKING, but the band-aid fix of increasing the swap time makes accidentally pulling out the cloak a pain.
The delay doesn't really bother me any more. It's all about HOW VISIBLE CLOAKED SCOUTS ARE TO THE EYE.

It doesn't need a huge change, just some reduced shimmer.
That's the whole point of this post. Make them harder to see. Reduce the shimmer

By the way, what's up with warlords? My PS3 is freezing now and I just got a "fatal error-quit game" message. Stop trying to run across open fields with three people sitting there waiting on you? Its not there to make you invisible, its there to make you LESS visible.
The whole map was an open field.

Scouts can be used in different ways. With use of a cloak, shimmer makes it useless. He didn't say that it's needed

Whats your point?
You seem to think that the cloak should give you immunity to people seeing you, but that was never its intent.
The point is to make you less noticeable, which it is very good at.
Things cloaks do: Makes you hard to shoot consistently while moving (weapon flash/kick will make staying on a moving target much harder if they are cloaked)
Makes you much more likely to be ignored if someone is engaged in doing something else (i.e. shooting at one of your teamates)
Makes you much more likely to not be seen if you are flanking at a medium/long distance
Makes you (specifically you, Lightning35 Delta514) think you are supposed to be able to run across an open field while 3 people are on the other side of it not doing anything but watching that open field.
Things cloaks do not do: Make you invisible so you can run across an open field while 3 people are on the other side of it not doing anything but watching that open field.
Make you able to run around right in front of people without being noticed.
Make you entirely invisible.
P.S. there is no map that is entirely made up of open field, with the debatable exception of some areas of manus peak ambush, which has plenty of cover and folds in the terrain to hide your movement, so even then you are full of it.[/quote
You stated they should make you hard to see and that's where it's failing. ANYONE CAN SEE ME and I can spot cloaks easily.

Vrain Matari wrote:There was always two ways(maybe more if we think about it a little bit) to make the cloak: As a tactical repositioning tool or as a ganking tool. CCP chose to make it a ganking tool.
Repositioning Cloak:
Hardest to see when moving, easiest to see when stationary(we can easily exploit-proof 'stationary'). Made for flanking, uplinking, and breaking out of a camped redline.
Ganking Cloak
Hardest to see when stationary, easiest to see when moving. Made for camping.
Imo, we'd have much more interesting matches with Repositioning Cloaks.
That would be much better. The shimmer is to high on current cloaks.
