I've only got a month's worth of experience with DUST, so perhaps I'm too inexperienced to speak about balance and whatnot, but here are my two cents anyway.
Overall, I think the concept is really cool, and a unique addition to eWAR would make for some exciting tactical possibilities. I do have a concern though. I've only played with Gallente gear (aside from free fits here and there) so I'll focus there:

This equipment would make enemies slower By interfering with their suit mobility enhancers. This would be the shortest ranged E-War of about 12 meters with a cone of 45 degrees. The slow effect would be about 20-30% of their current speed. This would be a great E-War to make it hard for enemies to retreat or if there pushing make it harder for them to get into cover.
... ....
General use this E-WAR would be constant so our will make yourself vulnerable as you will need to hold the module/equipment out while using it. There would be no lasting effects if you stop using it on a target or targets. You will need to make a choice of having your gun out to defend yourself or Have your E-War out to disrupt the enemy. So being taken out will not be too hard if you are found.
In order to get the eWAR bonus, I must have the equipment in my hands, correct? Wouldn't this defeat the purpose of the bonus for a Gal suit? To take advantage of the proposed bonus, slowing opponents down in CQC, I need my weapon. Plain and simple. If I'm within 12 meters, slowing them down won't matter cause I'm dead without a gun anyway. Swap to my weapon and the effect wears off.
Catching a fleeing opponent would be useful I guess, but if my enemy is within 12 meters and starts to flee, I've likely got him down to slivers of armor anyway. I'm not worried about how far he'll get away at that point.
I'd propose a minor lasting effect instead, no more than a few seconds. I expose myself dropping my weapon to use the equipment, but the payoff, should I survive that risk, is I get a small amount of time to take advantage of a slowed enemy. |
