The Caldari Assault is one of the most commonly encountered Caldari dropsuits and for good reason - assaults are one of the most balanced suits in the game. Assaults in general have the highest inherent HP of medium frames and the large numbers of high and low slots they gain from progressing up dropsuit tiers allows them a lot of fitting versatility. The Caldari assault in particular has above average shield repair and relatively low shield delays, meaning that when properly fitted they can both have and recover large amounts of HP in short periods of time. These are durable long range fighters, though they only have mediocre electronic warfare stats. Assault rails should be used for shorter range engagements, Standard Rails should be used for longer range engagements, when using automatic weaponry like the rail rifles, pistol style weapons like the bolt pistol are highly complementary.

I would like to propose we complete the set and structure information so that it is more easily accessible to the average newbie. Some of the shared elements ought to be put in their own general guide. Common to both of the existing guides are basic explanations of the fitting and skill systems. I suggest stripping these extras from the racial guides and putting them in a general guide. Under my proposal, we would have five threads: General Newbie Guide Amarr Guide Caldari Guide Gallente Guide Minmatar Guide These threads would be linked together, so the newbie guide would link directly into each of the racial guides for those interested in going further with those races, and possibly also linked to other specialist guides such as those written by Fox Gaden. I have begun work on the Amarr thread. I'm fairly experienced with Amarr suits, having mained them for a year or so, and I have a great deal of material already there. It is currently perhaps 70% done. I have also started putting together the general newbie thread. This leaves the Caldari thread. I -can- write this if nobody else steps up, but I think it would be more appropriate for someone of a more Caldari persuasion to do so. I recommend including instructions on how to get involved in the major FW organisation channels for each faction as well. This way we can hopefully get more people actually involved in FW. In the interests of putting together a united effort for the education of our newbies, I would also like to propose those interested in getting seriously involved in writing a comprehensive series of guides to DUST contact me. I have set up a gdocs project for collective work on these guides. Discuss. moobius 2013 never forget

I'll need to do some fluff things and hammer out descriptions / recommended fits. Not sure if I should put some stuff in about warbarge. Aiming to have suggested skill paths for 750k, 1m, 1.5m and 2.5m I think. Also have a decent little bit about what caldari suits can be expected to play like based on a mlt frame.
