Do we really need to implement a leave 15 min penalty like Battlegrounds...
I understand the need, but with respect, the guys leaving matches are the guys who are tired of being beat down match after lopsided match. I don't know that "the stick" is the best way to motivate a beat down player.
Current Model
Regular Merc is put into an Ambush match vs Kaizuka Sniper +5. Unless there's a super-stomp-squad on our guy's side (and there often isn't), he is guaranteed to get steamrolled. If he decides to try to fight, he'll have to run basic gear or else he's guaranteed to lose significant Isk. Our guy is playing to complete Missions, make Isk and have fun. He will do none of these this match, and has decent odds of not even meeting Min(WP). He has every reason to leave battle.
Stick Model
So our Merc leaves match. Waits 15 minutes. Gets into another match. Turns out Kaizuka Sniper and Company just wrapped their protostomp, and Scotty puts our guy up against them again. Decent odds that CCP just lost a customer. Repeat the process and increase those odds.
Can anyone think of a "Carrot Model" instead? Assuming changes to matchmaking are off the table, how can we motivate Regular Mercs to stay and fight when Scotty puts them up against impossible odds?

I could be wrong, but I seem to recall Rattati mentioning that Mu would be negatively impacted by leaving battle. The discussion occurred when Rattati introduced us to Mu; should be in development archive.
