FW in my mind doesn't work. Not only does getting matches take a long time to get, and rewards aren't very good, but You don't really see the progress your faction is making in FW. I'd however like that to change.
After thinking on how to change FW in it's current state, I've come upon both problems several times. FW is shaped to be a quick match similar to that of pubs, but doesn't reward much of anything. WAit times are long, and losses especially hurt more seeing as getting equipment from FW costs ISK, but sadly you can't make profits or even be sustainable with using just LP items (unless you simply don't die). This is especially true about the Pilot, where you can't even make full fits from FW.
Naturally, you would simply say, let's add ISK to FW, problem solved, right? Well, no. If you put just enough to buy LP things, you would run into running out of LP (the main problem with sustainability in just FW). If you buff LP rewards too high, people would stock up on LP stuff, and could sell them for a very high price when the market comes (if it even will). On top of that, you can't fit out a full set of gear as usual due to things race specific being in other races stores, and if you wanted to just stick with one, you would be highly limiting your fits.
Also, this wouldn't bring in much of any new people, so matches still would be too long of a wait time to get constant progress similar to that of Pubs. Also, it doesn't even begin to answer how to show faction wide progress in FW. I'm not even sure if that would be possible to do with it being how it is now. And then a idea came into my head.
I was flying around as the Space Police in EVE, and realized how EVE's FW could be translated into Dust's FW. A district on each planet could be the FW district, with everything around it being tied to the Feudal Warfare system that's discussed here On this district, There would be X amount of points spread out across the map (for an example I'm going to use 5), and of varying sizes (will get back to this). On these points, You would capture them, and hold them for X amount of time, with smaller points taking the least amount of time, but gives less rewards, and less influence to your faction (will get back to this), with the opposite happening with larger points.
Capturing these points will lead to two things: you would get LP (and possibly a small ISK reward) for capturing these points. On top of that, your faction gains influence on a district. Gain enough influence, and you can attack the largest point on the map. Gain control of it (whether it be a sort of domination type thing, a blow it up thing like in EVE, or even something the lines of skirm 1.0, I'm not sure), and the district belongs to your faction.
Now, there's perks to gaining districts. You get three bonuses for rewards: system wide control, which is how many districts you own in that system to total, constellation, which does the same but for districts in the system, and region, which does the same for constellations. Also, being with a single faction instead of going to multiple will have higher LP gains in general than spreading out.
That's all I got so far.
