I ask how deep do are you into the lore and do you RP your character because the EVEverse seems to have a lot of interesting stories and whatnot but we don't seem to take advantage of it in-game or on the forums. People like True Adamance, Sgt. Kirk, myself, and a few others actually get into the Universe and it really makes it much more fun. I know some people might just not be into all that, but I love it.

I want to RP an Amarr patriot, but every time I do the HMG and CR remind me CCP has not yet balanced all weapons.
When they do, I'll consider it.

I used to, got bored of seeing the same arguments, went to news posting, and ended stopping that for awhile to. Now I just check occasionally and post it if there is any lore news that someone else didn't post first.
Screw this I'm out!

Quite a few things stand jarringly in the way of enjoyable RP in Dust:
- Lobby shooter
- Idiots
- Asinine names of player characters
- No tutorial in exactly how to do this
- Alts
I'm sure there are others.
KDR matchmaking would patch all the patches into pure patchitudity.

But lately I've been getting into DnD, and I've always loved rpg games (DA being my favourite, mention Skyrim and die), so it stands to reason that eventually I'll get into the backstory of New Eden as well.
Twas a weird transition from Space Miner to Rust Merc though.

I like having an established personality for my various characters, but I refuse to freeform roleplay because there is a lot of people who cannot accept ever 'losing' or not being good at something ever.
There's a lot of people who end up with horrible horrible power fantasies. I've interacted with more than a few amarr roleplayers and they tend to be some of the worse ones (everyone is a holder with the biggest holding ever and personal ties to the empress, etc). It reminds me of being fourteen and joining a freeform RP forum and entering the 'tavern' where it had to have been some non-Euclidean extradimensional space because all of the four-hundred special snowflakes there had their own dark shadowed corner where they were alone and brooding.

Yeah I know what you mean about that. I was actually reading the Holder's page on EVElopedia and there are some cool and rather interesting things that one can do with RP from a Holder's perspective and a bit of information when you really dig deep. Which is why I prefer not being "That Holder's Son XYZ" and something more akin to "Ah you haven to be my fourth cousins great great great grand nephew" or some other bullshit since Amarrian nobility extends out to even the fringes of families.
But I may or may not know to whom you are referring...... such laughter ensues.

Yeah we tried that sort of thing on the old Dark Souls forum and it was damn difficult to explain to people time and time again that while yes Lordran is an interesting place where we time flows oddly that our characters are not chosen undead, we don't have Darksigns, and you cannot exist as a pseudo immortal all knowing multidimensional entity who can simultaneously see the future and affect the past.
And yes MINA this guy did things in the middle of conversations like.
Looks into future..... puppet masters your character twisting their personality so they are inevitably the bad guy..... pulls off amazingly acrobatic and impossibly awesome battle scene countering everything with ease.......BAM ******* rewritten past where your character is dead.
It was awfully infuriating try to establish character personalities and ensuring people understood how awful it was interacting with God Modded characters. Fortunately they all picked up on it really quickly and we had some really nice characters that I think everyone was happy to see used especially in the Community events we hosted and tournaments.

Ugh hurray more people get to read Tony Gonzales less than sterling depiction of the Amarr where everyone is a traitor, monster, doesn't have faith, and the ones that do either die or are stripped of it by the end.......
It's like he took that one comment CCP made about the Amarr "Capable of great acts or Good and Evil" and just ignored the first part.

Oh wow. Yeah I've been in a lot of situations where we're RPing and the other players don't understand what's powerplaying or the fact that they have to abide by the rules or can't be OP to the point of breaking the mechanics of the RP.
:V I've been the guy in the earlier cases, but I learned lol. I remember one time in a superhero RP, I grabbed a guy and teleported him into a downed electrical pole. In my defense, the guy was supposed to have a healing factor like wolverine, and he did. Looking back on it, it's pretty funny lol. I really thought I was in the right for doing that (simply because he wouldn't be killed by the action).
RPing in Dust doesn't have to be about like...battling or whatever the Hell. It really could just be me and a Mimatar discussing how crappy the Caldari are. Stuff like that, I do like.
Also for the crappy names, I usually just RP them as nicknames or codenames or even aliases. Sometimes it takes a lot of effort. Sometimes it's just damn near impossible though. How can you make PoopButtMcgee fit into a discussion on the mutilating of bodies by the Blood Raiders?
"Oh, hey PoopButtMcgee, those damn Blood Raiders keep killing folks."
It just doesn't work.

In order there is
Ruthless - Tony Gonzalez Empyrean Age - Tony Gonzalez
The Burning Life - Hjalti Danielsson (seperate fromt he events of the first two works)
Templar One - Tony Gonzalez (the story of us mercs)
Ruthless sets up a few of the main characters that are in both Empyrean Age and Templar one (Otro Gariushi an dMens Reppola) and i'd highly recommend reading al 3 Tony Gonzalez works. i wasn't too keen on Burning life but that was purely because the storyline Gonzalez has created and the continuity makes for an epic read. i'd love an omnibus version to come out with all 3 pieces in it (jint hint CCP)
