It's a pretty straightforward calculation, especially when you take into account the fact that all weapons excepting AV (and NK, I think?) increase at a pretty standard rate of 5% per tier, to a 10% max. Case in point: old AR (cos I don't remember new numbers) dealt 34 damage per shot; we can extrapolate from there that the (old) GEK hit for 35.7, and that the Duvolle (which I actually do remember) hit for 37.4.

I'm pretty sure the scaling hasn't changed, though I'd have to check all the numbers to be certain.

FG (and possibly SL and PLC) increase at 10% per tie

In other words, a damage mod will allow you to equal or better the damage that simply adding a stronger weapon would grant.

You're probably better off with a better weapon and a shield extender, though.

It is a simple calculation, gets a bit more complex when adding proficiency to the mix (except with nk's which have no profile so they get a 10% bonus to both shield and armor from their proficiency skill), I was just feeling sick to be honest and couldn't be asked.
