After the warbarge feature was released I gotta say I like the features of what it can potentially provide so far. It was pointed out that naturally people may if they wish pay using Aurum in order to potentially speed up the progression of upgrading the Warbarge. Many people chastised CCP for making this feature something they could make money on. I'm just kinda wondering is it really so bad? I mean if you don't wanna buy parts to upgrade the Warbarge it's just going to take a really long time? I've heard others mention that they feel this is turning the game into pay to win which I get but doesn't EVE provide boosts similar to this that you can purchase? Curious on people's thoughts. |

[poor captain's log] day 4: Only another 34 components need to upgrade this hunk of scrap, some day I will get around to installing that Experimental Laboratory but not today [/poor captain's log]
I don't really mind about the slow advancement for not paying AUR, it would be nice to have more components in salvage but its early day. (this view may change as upgrade cost rocket) |

No Eve does not provide similar boosts that can be purchased for cash. In Eve you can use implants that increase certain aspects but these are lost if your clone is destroyed and they are EXPENSIVE. A set of top level implants will cost you more than a PLEX (1 month of game time) and can be lost at any given gate camp.
The real problem with the warbarge is the speed of skilling it up naturally versus the speed of using AUR. A person can spend enough AUR to go directly to level 5 in everything if their wallet allows. Imagine if when Dust started you were able to just instantly buy proto everything instead of having to use boosters and still grind. This is exactly what is going on with the warbarge and people are mad because they realize passively they will probably never even see a 5% damage bonus while people blowing AUR are getting damage bonuses, free ISK, experimental weapons, and officer weapons.
Just wait until the proposed PC system is released and then we will see what real pay to win looks like. Too bad everyone that dumps thousands of dollars as a corp into their corp warbarge will still have to fight in lag filled matches. Good Game CCP.

TL;DR
AUR splashers are unlocking higher power content and more damage than any of us will ever get to see passively. |

I have already received 50 WBCs in salvage twice. It was a nice surprise but you quickly realize that with the upgrade costs this does nothing for you.

I'm not an eve player but thanks for clarifying some of how it works. |

In EVE there is nothing bought for cash that gives you an advantage. There are a few ship skins but that is it. Implants that speed up your training, increase damage, or even fitting abilities are only available for ISK.
The prices of these items are set totally by the players and anyone that has one of the items can sell or attempt to sell at any price they want to.
You can get ISK by purchasing a plex from CCP and selling it for ISK. The ISK price is also totally set by players and what they are willing to sell for or buy for.

Yeah I think for the system to be fairer those payout are going to have to increase, I think I read some where components as mission rewards is coming that will help.
Maybe a better way would have been sub system boosters for AUR instead of buying components.
I do fear the underlying Monetization strategy going to throw 2 extra creadits links out here because they can say it better than I can Extra Credits - Doing Free to Play Wrong - How Bad Monetization Harms F2P Games Extra Credits - Free to Play Is Currently Broken - How High Costs Drive Players Away from F2P Games |
