I don't know. I just feel like this would be a good way to go. (I can already smell the rage coming)
Having all dropsuits progress in PG/CPU only and not in slots.
Would make things more interesting, players will have to decide between having the highest tank, speed or regen.
The question that arises is that how many slots should each suit have? I believe that having the ADV slot layout for every suit would be better slot layout if this were to ever happen.
Would make people want to spec into the optimization skill as well as some other things.
Just a thought.

I like it. Except i think proto slot layout should be used, gives more flexibility and options, and allows fitting of drugs on armor suits or damage mods on shield suits without completely crippling yourself. |

then shift the excess cost for pro suits to the modules.

The reason I choose the ADV slot layout is because, they do not seem too restricting, while not being to freeing. Perfect balance and players will have to make a sacrifice based upon how they want their suits to run.

So were effectively undoing the slot buff for assaults and scouts, and giving Gallente Logis, what, 2/3 layout?
There are QUITE a few suits that just simply dont work at ADV, while others only become usable at adv.
Plus, if we do it right, a Std suit with 4/4 wouldnt be that freeing, as you might only have the PG to fit 7 of those modules with usable things, that 4th mod on either side might be empty, or a fitting mod.
See Minja, if we gave it 3/3 at Basic, but didnt change their fitting space, i could fit... 3 Basic kincats, or 2 protos and a fitting mod and leave 2 highs empty with no cloak.
