Dust seems to choke up while multi-tasking. Re-stocking during a battle is particularly dangerous. A few things could help with that
- Replace the 3D map (for now) with a simplified 2D map. - When selecting a fitting, instead of loading the entire fitting at once, have the game load each module separately IE: Dropsuit, then high modules, then equipment, weapons, low modules etc. - Don't force-load the map when checking the killfboard
What else can Dust do to stop multi-tasking to increase performance without sacrificing too much in the way of gameplay or visuals?

Ideas
* Reduce RoF of CR, HMG (increase damage to compensate) * Disable unnecessary chats while in battle (excludes corp, team and squad) * Disable mail while in battle (accessible only in warbarge and end-of-match) * Disable "modify loadout" and "restock loadout" while in battle (get your stuff together in advance) * Tune visual and environmental effects (muzzle flash, explosions, swirling fire/acid pits, lights, etc)
Shoot scout with yes.

No. Many Corps use other channels when organizing and executing PC and team chat is apparently more bugged than any other chat in the game from what I've hear

Sounds reasonable, mostly...
Adipem Nothi wrote: * Disable "modify loadout" and "restock loadout" while in battle (get your stuff together in advance)
Not without adding more capacity to number of fits.

Sure
The OP's ideas are 10/10 though. I think it would also help if the models and textures for certain things were downloaded to the client seeing as how they are rarely changed anyway, then again I have no idea which parts are kept on client/server...

If I'm running clunky, things tend to get clunkier when someone in the area whirs up an HMG. Same goes for CR. Spitballing here, but these weapons both have a massive RoF; might be a source of performance strain. By "clunky", I mean varying degrees of input lag/hesitation and/or framerate degradation.
No solid evidence/experiments to back this up; just a suspected pattern based upon repeat observation. I've got a pretty solid internet connection (1GB up/down) and my PS3 isn't particularly old, so I don't think the problem is on my end.

how about we just... reduce the rate of fire on the HMG anyway?
It doesn't need to do 1000 DPS
