gallente assault= armour/armour repair. (high repair rate. low shields)
amarr assault= armour/shield tanking. (low repair rate of armour)
caldari assault= shield tanking. (low armour)
minmatar assault = low armour/shielding. (faster and somewhat better repair than caldari and amarr.)
if you like the medium suits, but feel theyre too weak try the commando. assault is good, it offers a step up from regular suits.
scouts are brilliant for burst damage. if you can get the suprise on 2 or 3 people, provided they match up to your gear, you could properly win. scouts are not good for sustained combat in my experience.
minmatar scout = hacker/nova knives. ( good ambushers)
gallente scout = assault rifle/shotgun/ion pistol. ( if you add lots of repair plates to them, then you will have a good, light fighter for
amarr scout= anything. (is simply an upgrade to a light suit, in my opinion)
caldari scout = hit and run. ( brilliant for hit and run. give them high shields and dont try sustained combat.)
commandos are amazing for high damage, and tanking that can rival almost a sentinel. they still wont stand up to a group or to a sentinel in most cases though. my favourite is the gallente command. it can be given some of the best armour rep in game, and is a good solo suit, that can work in team fights well.
gallente commando = armour repair/assault rifles/plasma cannons/shotguns/ion pistols. ( perfect brawler suits, and good with a tac rifle at proto level)
amarr commando = armour tanker/lasers. ( good for long range fighting)
caldari commando= shield tanker/rail and bolt weapons. (weak at close range, but good mid to long. shields allow a good protection from snipers)
minmatar commando = flanker/explosives. (naturally has less armour and shields, but has a good buff to anything explosive. is capable holding entire squad ups if used correctly. also good for av with an explosive bonus.
I have not personally tried sentinels much so please correct me if im wrong.
gallente sentinel = armour tank/rep tank. (good for firefights)
amarr sentinel = bruise/tank. ( needs logis for backup)
minmatar sentinel = flanker/burst damage. (brilliant for flanking enemy squads)
caldari sentinel = forge guns/long to mid range. ( because it uses shields it is weaker at a close range. it is better with a forge gun or an assault heavy machine gun ( extended range compared to regulalr hmg)
