This is not about matchmaking. It is about the design of the maps themselves. Some maps favor certain sides by providing better places to spawn and use cover on one particular side. It is painfully clear if you take the time to think about maps and guns ranges and such.I know the distance to the letters is supposed to be similar. I understand that. What I do not understand is why x side of random. map has not only building cover, but installation cover, and lots of vantage points, while the opposite side struggles to stay out of open ground.Yes I am referring to mamas peak, but just about every map suffers from this.
Please consider reevaluating maps so that they are, not exactly similar ,but more balanced ( I know its a vague word) so that winning matches on dominations for example does not mean rush to hold x building or area with better cover and less chokepoints so that the enemy team can never even have a chance to turn it around unless they use very specific counters. Such things are not always possible.
Small squads of competent players should not be expected to even attempt to carry a team if they are at a severe disadvantage from things like having 1 or 2 paths to an elevated position with cover that can effectively cut off most pushes from the edges of the redline. I understand what I am saying may contradict the idea of domination, but I think most players can agree it is frustrating to be caught on the bad side of a map with little to no support because it is difficult to do so.
Not every map has a bad side, but most maps have similar layouts on either side with key differences like ladder access, buildings with walls that stop bullets and other things that help keep you alive like vantage points. By giving one side a distinct advantage, a biased match is created even before you can consider all the other things that go into matchmaking. That is all I have to say after consistently losing tonight even though I pooled 1500plus warpoints each match from spawns, kills, assists, needles, and hacks as an assault. Only so much 4 mercs can do against odds like that when at least 6 of your teammates play like they just left the academy. And yes , at least 20 blues were harmed in the making of this post due to uplinks I placed on "the bad side" of a map.
While slow to anger and occasionally indecisive, they are also capable of harnessing enormous resolve when truly tested.
