I just hit Loyalty Rank 8 today and as of right now it says I need 104,835 points to hit Loyalty Rank 9. To get that many points without purchasing Aurum will require me to play roughly over 25,000 matches. If I play 10 matches a day everyday it will take me about 6 years to achieve this.
Good job thinking it through CCP. |

Actually:
Each day will give you 10 matches X 2 = 20 + 5 X 2 = 10 for winning 50% of the battles + 5 for logging in +1 for every 500 WP you get a loyalty rank assuming a below-average 500 points a match =36/day
It would only take you 2,912 days, or 7.98 years, if you do pretty well every battle then we can shorten this number to 2,759 days or 7.56 years assuming 1,500 WP a match.
If you squad up and win 80% of the time and average 2500WP a match due to being cool, we can say you're going to get there in 6.53 years!

Loyalty.... Smoyalty
Looking at a merc's rank says nothing about his skill, playtime, or engagement with the game. It says something how much someone was willing to sponsor the development of a game.
And all you have to show for it is a name in the killfeedGǪ

Loyalty ranks are pointless, how do you get a military rank from spending money on a game? Surely it should be purely for battle performance, no? Loyalty ranks should all be renamed accordingly, and we should get a proper separate ranking system based on performance alone.
As I keep finding myself saying.... "whatever though".

Good job thinking it through CCP. Started at just barely rank 8 when LOLoyalty ranks were released... 3 months to gain (almost) 10k points... at that rate, total of about 31 months to get to rank 9, so over 2 and a half years of playing at least 2-3 hour a day every day.
Totally an attainable goal

Yep, that's why we need a proper ranking system, and a renaming of these "fanboy" loyalty ranks.
EDIT: to clarify, these PROPER ranks (based upon performance and using the current loyalty rank titles) need not grant any bonus whatsoever.
EDIT 2: an ingame rank should reflect how experienced a player is, not how fat his wallet is. Loyalty ranks are like bragging rights, proper ranks (like all other games) would let players know what kind of competition they are facing.

No, i don't intend to make you a bad guy at all. This is a forum, i disagree with what you said, so i am trying to discuss it. Someone who is not paying for this game but playng it is not a leech when the service provided is, and is intended to be, free to play. So no, i think the naming is buttocks for the service, or lack thereoff, provided.

True I think the scale is a bit funny especially the later ranks and also matches should have a slightly higher weight. So for example a poor man playing everyday since Beta is not Loyal? You really wanna make me the bad guy huh? Alright, I'll do it. Yes he's not as loyal. He's a leech. Are you happy now ? :( If you read carefully I said that matches should have higher weight ("poor vet"). If the subtlety in your comment was lost on me i'm sorry, this is not my native language. My eyeballs are fine though so i can read what you wrote.
We both know that the game Costs money to maintain and develop. Also that some guy has to spend money. IMHO loyalty rank is not a feature unlike 5% DMG increase, which disadvantages you in a significant way.

Here's how you make him depressed.
Write down the number of Loyalty Points you have to go.
Finish a match.
Watch it not move.
Congrats, you're stuck at level 8 forever.

its not mandatory , aurum is not the only way to rank and maybe dust will be supported for years to come
if you spend 20 a month for 3-4 years thats about 1000 dollars and 20 a month is not unrealistic, ive paid more for worse games just to be able to play

Good job thinking it through CCP. what rank is 8?
Just after 7 and before 9.

Have not bothered looking at my loyalty rank since I did the test to see how many points AUR spending was worth around the time it was added. |

Good job thinking it through CCP. Sounds like a great time to give up.
