From what i have seen they are just a thing on the side of the game and in no way are integral to anything in dust beyond free random shiny stuff or random pure crap.
Why are people mad that they get involved with something random and get random stuff?, How could you be mad about getting random results from something you know is random?.
Wtf is going on exactly?.

Redeployside - You are just in time for minimal immersion edition of ps2.

Stupid is bad. Stupid makes people mad.
Stupid people tend to get mad.
Is this a case of 'it is what it is' but people get mad about it anyway and knowingly get involved with it and then get even more mad?.

.... Got it.
Normally people aren't accustomed to paying that much for junk.
If it's random and people get involved then what else could they expect?.
How do these strongboxes work?, how are they accumulated etc.

Strongboxes are a particularly disgusting example so people are flocking to those. Lots of cool stuff was introduced this last patch but all of it is in strongboxes, with a ridiculously low drop rate on the items and some frankly insulting items dropping instead. 100% of players in the game have the dropsuit command skillbook, new players actually start out with it preinstalled - but it drops in a strongbox, and nobody has any use for it.
It's poor implementation, lack of content, and overmonetisation that have gotten people upset.
Ah right it makes sense now.
Maybe this could correlate with the extra effort the devs have put in?. We want a better game and that means more effort which means more money is needed right?.

This would be fine, but that money is not going into actual new content. So far we have have had: Loyalty ranks Daily missions Strongboxes Warbarges RNG BPOs All of these have a heavy focus on monetisation, but don't add anything to actual gameplay. The only actual gameplay features that have been added are some new maps - all of which have actually been finished for a year or so, just not implemented.
I see yeah, it needs to be diverted elsewhere.

Arkena Wyrnspire wrote:Yes, APEX BPOs are also an example. I added them to the list. I've probably missed a couple of things.
Going from Uprising to Warlords, I had hoped for a really solid update that would show how far we've come and that the dev team has brought together all its resources to bring out a great update. But it simply hasn't happened. There is no new content in it. Every other 1.0 patch has brought masses of new content - Uprising, for all of its flaws, brought an impressive amount of kit to the table. Chromosome brought loads of cool kit in, too. Reduced dev team or not, it's a very poor (or rich, depending on your viewpoint) expansion in comparison.
EDIT: Yes, added a few more things to the list.
That's why i'm coming back to dust, a lot of the stuff that should have been in ages ago is finally here.
I'm of the opinion that it won't get much better on the ps3 anyway so we need to move dust to the ps4 soonish for it to expand properly and to gain more players as the ps3 is losing players to the ps4.

I shudder to think how much worthwhile effort they wasted making the recent "improvements" that could have been used for making DUST into what it has always been advertised to be. Instead, they spent their efforts on money-gouging payola schemes to fund the development of money-gouging payola schemes.
I had no idea it was this bad no. Items that can only be obtained through these boxes is pretty harsh, even for someone like me who has spent a sht load on this game and will continue to do so when i get back.
Well actually i'm getting a respec so my 2 infantry chars are completely free of sp used on vehicles and that's it. I'm not spending anymore until i see development in dust for the ps4 or pc.

Nothing new has been added since Uprising 1.8, and that was a year ago.
About 3 ish weeks before the 'new' maps came.
