Title pretty much says it all, but here's some more for ya.
Weapon fire appears before enemies render. Grenades do not render in a timely manner if at all. Vehicles do not render in a timely manner if at all. Game goes into slow motion for hours on end. Game lags terribly, more so during enemy encounters and firefights. Spawning out takes an additional 5-10 seconds after wait time has elapsed. Enemies warp from place to place. Why would I want to spend money to help you propagate this nonsense. Make a priority of fixing your game to operate properly. |

The time on spawn thing is, actually, your Hard drive speed. Get a cheapo SSD and you get in instantly at the timer.
Also rendering is tied to HDD speed, at least from what i have noticed, so take that with a grain of salt.
Regardless, even an SSD is going to be bottlenecked by the Ps3's interface hardware and its unbelievably limited RAM.

What about semi auto weapons firing about twice per second instead of as many times as I pull the trigger? |

I Usually get a kick of dying before my spawn screen clears. But it goes with the territory, Not sure if it is the PSN servers or if we are playing on CCP's servers.
I notice lag issues about the time when everyone gets home and the networks are loaded up. it may be an environmental issue where your ISP is over taxed so your getting slowed feed to and from the Dust servers, or if the DUST servers got cut back and we are running on more limited "Back end" structure.
Depending on your host provider, the common practice is to "over sell" the ISP so you have way more users then the hardware is rated for, it turns $$ profit margins into $$$$$ profit margins. That's your internet provider, not PSN or CCP.
If / When legion goes to PS4 you may see a vast difference, upgraded server networks, better machine and graphics, etc. so all this lag goes away.
To defend the initial argument though, I have noticed a lot more lag as of late then when it was in Beta, and after Beta. I haven't noticed the lag so much before the major vehicle re-spec. mostly in the last 6 months seems to have a lot more lag, about the time with new maps and equipment were introduction.
I hear rumors, and hear other people in game claiming other players using Lag switching, or lagging others out intentionally. "low orbital strike" so not sure or if someone is just ranting about lag or if its true. That's the hackers tool to do limited DDoS on other players, not a new warbarge strike by the way.
New content and new graphics may be a result too. The original DUST 514 didn't have as much graphics textures and items to render that it currently does so that may also be over taxing the typical PS3. You should probably consider the logistics of operating on the PS3 and how all the current added content pushes DUST to the PS3's ability to function in real time. |

1- you cannot lagswitch on a public server only if you host a match off your ps3,
2- the ps3 is more than capable of running dust even with its graphics there are much bigger games that run on ps3 with much bigger maps and involving more players ect
3- vehicles are a big contributor of lag and I do not know why this isnt addressed more. when I was in PXRX0 we use to q-sync full matches 32 PXRX0 players in a single match we would call in vehicles and let the red hack them so more vehicles could be called into a match to learn to fly dropships. when 4+ dropships were called in lag increased dramatically. after 8 ships were called in the match was often almost unplayable, literally could hear the ship you were flying explode on comms but you were still flying knowing you were soon to die.

Tell me. Have you guys got your PS3 on a static IP and the game ported forward? This is kind of important if one is looking for a good connection.

Here are the ports for Dust 514. Enjoy.
Backend communication needs TCP 443 and 80.
Battle server communications needs UDP 20000-21000.
Voice communication needs UDP 12000-13000.

I was advised by someone in my corp to restart my PS3 when I was getting consistent lag, something to do with memory leak. Well I have been doing that and it has worked really well for me. If I play for a couple of hours I start lagging and once I restart lag is gone for a few hours again. I am on an older PS3 though. |

I play this game on a 56k connection at a relatives house and i have adsl2+ connection here, i get a better ping on that 56k connection, because im that tiny bit closer to the server |

When I try to add backend communication TCP 443 and 80 port I get an error message saying end port has to be greater than start port?

Regardless, even an SSD is going to be bottlenecked by the Ps3's interface hardware and its unbelievably limited RAM. When talking to a console player, you should not expect -and should actually avoid - talk about console modification. We got a console for a reason. To not have to upgrade constantly like the PC, amongst other things.
Since consoles don't change within a generation, companies should optimize their software. It is their responsibility to give us a good game.
With PC, it's different because there's new software every other month and companies can't keep up for the most part. |

I, also, suggest setting your PS3 to a static IP. This one is fairly simple. Just look up how to do it if you don't know how. |

To remedy this, set them as separate forward requests. If that does not help, try 443-444 and 80-81, and if anything else conflicts then remove those forwards. |

Check your connection speed via the PS3 menu. Anything under 6 is rubbish and will cause you to lag, especially if you have numerous chat channels and are on coms.
8+ down and 1+ up will keep your game running nicely.
Speedtest.net or your isp's quoted speeds are not relevant for your PS3.
