Needs to be worked on a little bit. There are really a few players using it regularly, making it one of the less used weapons in combat.
If from the number of scrambler users you consider those using a turbo controller, the number of "legit" scrambler users is really low. This lead me to think that it might be worked a little bit, considering it is a "normal" light weapon and not a mass driver or rocket/plasma launcher.
Infact, both of its variants are the most underused primaries. From my experience, the scrambler rifle (properly used) hasn't got enough range and its damage profile is too extreme to properly damage armor.

The ScR is a beast. However, as opposed to the other rifles which only require one to invest SP into Operations and Proficiency, the ScR demands one to also invest 2.6 million skill points into a specific suit to reach optimal efficiency, and I believe it is this reason that dissuades players from using it. |

As a regular user of it, I think it's one of the more balanced weapons. If you use it wrong it can kill you, and as Jack said above, you need discipline to know when to stop firing in the heat of battle and switch to your sidearm to finish a kill if needed. If you overheat you're basically out of action for 4 seconds and you can only hop around... which usually ends up in you dying.
Also, if you try to use it on any other suit apart from an amarr assault, you're not going to be using it at optimal efficiency and will overheat much faster.
There are lots of downsides (if you use the regular) - if you miss your charged shot you are going to overheat, you are also going to have a tough time against armor heavies.
The upside is of course, you can one shot people who rely too much on shields if your charged shot hits, it does have good range, and compared to other rifles like the CR or Assault, you rarely run out of ammo - it is quite efficient with the ammo - again because of the charged shot.
I think the range is good and the optical sight is quite clear. Frankly, going from the scrambler rifle to any other rifle is so weird, because you can just fire, fire, fire, fire until someone is dead... so yes, it's one of the deadlier weapons, but it requires a lot more skill.

A general response to anyone:
I do agree, Scrambler is a good weapon and is really particular, and also takes skills to use it properly. But there are also things that I can't really like. I never noticed this downside of the scrambler, since 1.2 more or less (with the Amarr Assault), but the proficiency nerf makes the damage profile way too extreme imo, making the scrambler an assist-machine.
This kind of damage profile might be pretty good for Laser rifle, but not for the scrambler both because you necessarily have to chew through armor in order to kill someone and because armor tanking is more effective HP wise. You're a frontliner, an assaulter or even a marksman, but you can't be effective in any of these because of the damage profile.

Over all the scrambler is a weapon that takes time to skill into.
When I use it I masscare the proto players that in end, they'll accuse me of using a stupid modded controller that I reply saying, Stop crying and deal with so next time dont bother opening your big mouth before I shut it with the Viziam. Have a nice day :p

I can't use the scrambler at all, just doesn't feel right in my caldari hands. This doesn't mean its not a good rifle tho, my amarr buddy is a god with that thing, he doesn't use a turbo controller, tho I'm sure some have thought that as he fires very fast but the reason he is good with it is he is really good at scoring head shots. If its a heavily armored target he strips his shields with a charge shot and finishes him with his flaylock. I believe he has been using this combo since the flaylock was nerfed, was pretty damn funny to see flaylock kills at that time.

Either that or just make the AScR have more RoF and have it just pump out stupid amounts of ammo down range.

yup agree with this - it takes a bit of getting used to and is at it's optimum obviously with the ammar assault.
cooldown basically means its a weapon with double reload to worry about - so that's something to eat your SP but it's a fun weapon to use. the charge up shot means you can risk taking a lot of hits before opening fire. it's a good gun.

I do not agree with buffing my gun.
The lack of people using it is a good thing. People don't want to have to adjust to the learning curve with the gun.
Yes it destroys shields; however, nerfing the damage or range isn't the answer to fixing that. Shields in general are absolute sh*t to every weapon except for the CR. That's the problem with shields.
ScR takes skill to use or don't bother using it.
No to adjusting my gun.

I have tried the duvolle tac AR on a gallente assault (max skills) and it just SUCKS against armor...all AR's feel useless when i hit 500+ armour. I was melted by a basic RR using an allotek burst AR. I use the viziam SR on an amarr assault (max skills) and stick on 2 damage mods. Shield instantly goes in under half a second, then i am left with armor. The viziam does 68/shot to armor because of the 2 damage mods. That is 748+ damage/second to armor assuming you DON'T use a trubo controller and eat some healthy food.
Stick a min logi behind me, i wield a double-damage modded viziam with 900 armor at 90 rep/second
unstoppable. Short story; me and a min logi stormed a point that had 3 BPO sentinels inside. The minmitar one was a joke, i took him out in a second. The 2 amarr i dealt with quite easy as well: took away shields, cooked 2 core locus grenades while my SR was cooling down....pull out SR and spam shots until the motherfuckers die. I hack it, 2 more sentinels spawn in 3 seconds later me and my logi are amazed at the SR capabilities, i am yelling 'HOW DID WE SURVIVE THAT?!?? HAHAHAH'
the 2 sentinels died

The Scr is a hidden gem, one that shines on the amarr assault but requires polishing on any other suit. It is one of the few guns that you have to practice with, and the few experts with it make it seem effortlessly easy. Timing shots, charges, half charges and chage cancels, this is one of the only skill based guns in game.

I like the SCR. Its a very unique experience, deals serious damage, youre not out of ammo as quick and looks absolutely awesome.
I use it as a defensive mid to long range support weapon on my logi. Build a nest of uplinks and nanohives and keep it safe. Most people are frightened by the amount of initial damage and retreat. Very valuable, if you have some cover and open space for the enemy to cross.
Though I have the impression that the RR would fill this role even better. Any experience?

I personally suck at the scrambler rifle and even more at the ammar suit. That suit requires a certain play style. It is very dicipline based and methodical. I guess i can give it another go but, as far as assault suits go I much rather have the speed of the minmatar.
That being said I have seen people that are AMAZING using the scrambler rifle. The people that do know how to use it can easily get kills about 20 per battle. That thing hits hard but, you have to have that triggr dicipline and set up your suit properly. |

I can own 90% of you with a ScR if we had a 1v1... and even I overheat constantly lol you people that are claiming overheat isn't a factor are the ones who used the ScR and couldn't figure out that you've got to live with constantly being defenseless for 5 sec and go on ******* **** up... here some food for thought what is CR downside?

Yet with a tac AR I can down about 2-3 guys with it before reloading on any suit. where as with the SCR I struggle to kill one guy with it before the first overheat on any other suit aside from the amarr assault.
Slap the same gun on the amarr assault get similar results to the tac AR.
Stick a min logi behind me, i wield a double-damage modded viziam with 900 armor at 90 rep/second unstoppable. HAHAHAH' the 2 sentinels died
I rest my case....
To other threads then chaps?

If from the number of scrambler users you consider those using a turbo controller, the number of "legit" scrambler users is really low. This lead me to think that it might be worked a little bit, considering it is a "normal" light weapon and not a mass driver or rocket/plasma launcher. Infact, both of its variants are the most underused primaries. From my experience, the scrambler rifle (properly used) hasn't got enough range and its damage profile is too extreme to properly damage armor. http://dust.thang.dk/market_tryhardinator.php He's serious isn't he? Holy sh*t a ScR buff thread lol!
It's not a "buff" but more a rebalance:
it's pretty good, yes. but almost useless against high HP armor suits. If changing the damage profile from -20 / 20 to -15/15 is a buff....

Now that we've confirmed he is a officially a member of the forum bs police....
No it doesn't need a buff.
Yes Gucci we play in the same server.
No we both know I'm not scared lol!
You can find my KD on online or in-game.... and so can EVERYONE else lol!
Did I miss anything?
Oh yeah I must "get gud"
I.e. quit job, buy modded controller, farm isk, create a plethora of accounts to farm afore mentioned isk, dedicate less time to wife, and more time to finger banging my controller, and begin my long quest of no lifing and neck bearding on dust.
I've went as far as buying an SSD to improve gameplay a tad,.... and that's as far as I'm going with this addiction.
Oh, and I buy boosters too. o7
Idk what to say lmao.... put the controller down... its the first step to fighting this addiction Bradric.... now go bang your wife, better then video games isn't it your welcome.
