Awww, there there son, don't cry. Actually, you know what? Maybe fishing isn't so bad after all. You get to sit in the sun (weather permitting) and drink/smoke, right? What's not to like about that? Apart from the casting/hooking/reeling/etc :P

Grown man too, but I'm not stoked for the "expansion". Anyway It is simply a kind of addiction. Although frustrating, sometimes, Dust probably makes you feel "good" when you achieve "something".
Don't really want to go deep into psychology, but it's pretty much a reaction everyone would have. Your parents are not to blame in any way.

The average gamer is in their 30's.... Dozens of studies has shown this... Kids and adolescence barely make up half of the gamers in their 30's.
Worse is the term "Gamers" is very loose in todays Smartphone culture.... As nearly everyone's dad and mom now are playing Smartphone games atleast once a day... And in some cases even their grandparents... As they receive their 100th invitation to go play farmville with grandma...
Now the Video game generation are parents... Sitting down and playing WoW with their kids...
It's different... But when the gaming industry brings in more then all of the movie industry and music industry combined.. Times have changed. |

I got pretty pissed when my grandmother told me she had become a gamer because she was addicted to castleville..
I politely set her down and explained to her what I had gone through in my adolescent years to be considered a "gamer" and she should not use that term lightly...

Couple that with the ability to genuinely contribute to a team and to suffer real loss(but not enough of it, EVE beats DUST hands down there) and it's a game that's hard to walk away from.

I've been gaming since the 1980s and I will continue to game until the day I die. I don't care how old I get or ever contemplate the decisions I've made in life. I do what I love and I'm sure you're all the same. Imagine if the IP for Dust continues on for another 50 years. I think the game would be a lot more fun plaing with geriatric 80 year old farts. Oh yeah you whipper snapper? Well we didnt have player trading back in my day... ehh where am I? That's nothing. Back in my day, we didn't have knives for sidearms and the Galscout was the only scout. /lady in a white coat walks in with a wheelchair "Sir, it's time for your sponge bath." If I can get sponge baths from pretty young ladies in white, sign me up for old age right now.

In game, I can be anything: a speedy Heavy, a dampened assault, or even a brick-tanked scout.
Sure, taking on the persona of a fictitious immortal merc may be immature and I may be looked down on by society, but I'm willing to accept that and all the flack that comes with.
So, to every man-child out there out there who enjoys his vidya and could not give any fucks about what others think, I salute you with a hell yes!

Where did my parents fail me? Why did I choose to be this person?
I have so many questions. unless you have no type of ambition for anything in life and sleeping under a carboard box in the back of a mcdonalds bathroom, ur parents didnt fail u. better to be excited for a f2p expansion rather than injecting hero-in into your eyes.

where did my parents fail me?
Interesting question... My parents always had a games system or computer around the house for as long as I can remember. This goes as far back as the ZX Spectrum. They were happy for me to play videogames and they would play them with me and sometimes on their own. My mum's a hall of famer on pac-man for example. Is this a failure on their part or a superb bit of parenting? Depends on your point of view.
Why did I choose to be this person?
This is more problematic - it could have something to do with this...

Don't expect answers here, it is like a junky looking for answers in a crack house.
Because, that's why.
