For nearly two years now, I have been playing this game. It has a great concept to it, such awesome potential. OK, so two years in and I can say that II am disappointed in the progress of it's development. I am left with so many questions about the gameplay and why the maps became so gigantic, yet still only support such small teams. Guys, honestly, miles of terrain that is hard to move on, it would never be necessary, unless you made it possible to have teams of 50 taking on teams of 50. If it was really that kind of war simulation, with that scale of battle, then I can see these huge maps being relevant, but until that happens, running around for several minutes just to get back into a fight, it makes this game lose it's appeal. And often running around means being totally alone and getting ambushed by 10 or more enemies, that's really frustrating!
I have noticed that you added visual content to Dust that has only added increased lag and frame rate drops, but the gameplay itself hasn't been improved. When a weapon overheats, you are unable to simply switch to your sidearm and avoid helplessly being gunned down. That is a huge problem for me honestly, and I know i'm not alone on that one fellas. There are so many more weapons now, and the continued forced sp resets have left me with a few sp allocation mistakes that have costed me a ton of wasted sp. I now have unlocked items that have no bearing on my style of playing. I just noticed today actually, that you have added the option to reset/refund sp, but it costs real money? Really? That is a low blow kind of move to be quite honest. I think given all the wild changes you have made over that past two years, that you should have the decency to allow us to explore the skill tree on our own terms and without asking that we pay real money for what should just be a basic function of this game.
I don't in any way mean to offend anyone with my criticisms of the game, but I felt that I should maybe say something, ya know, ask a few questions. I am honestly looking forward to the day when this game is finished. I personally don't understand this indy game style of game development, all the micro-transactions and the years of adding things that honestly don't have much relevance to the game itself. The best games I have played have honestly been games that were finished first and had an initial pricetag, that used to be how all games were released. If Dust 514 was a finished product right now, I would go out to my local game outlet and buy a copy for $60 USD tomorrow.
Now imagine if all the gameplay issues were fixed and you had a disc copy on store shelves. A lot of people have never even heard of your game, believe it or not. And i'm talking about people who have owned their PS3 console for several years. Now imagine if you had 1 million people go out and buy your game for $60. I'm no math expert here, but I believe that is roughly about $60 million in your pocket there.
I remain hopeful that CCP can manage to complete this game while the ps3 console is still relevant and still connected to the online network provided by PSN. Eventually the PS4 will take over the market and you guys won't have a game to manage anymore. Better jump on the band wagon soon or you will get left at the station, if you get my cheesy drift there fellas. Take care and god bless ya's! I hope my words resonate and inspire a positive outcome on your part. |
